He is one of my favourite ever Allblacks. Top 5 for sure.

@antipodean thats probably fair, I just hope when we give these guys a run off the bench its more than 10 minutes

If it's Frizzel at 6 then they'll be making the same mistake yet again, therefore I'd rather they make a new mistake with Finau.

I can see why they may want Barratt at 15. I am not sure they will want to trust Stevenson with his first cap in Mendoza.
This test, while seemingly being the least important of the year, actually has a lot riding on it and we want to start with a win to get up and running straight away.
Otherwise we will be in a similar situation as last year where we have a must win game against South Africa before facing Aus away.
We don’t want the chaos of early last year to repeat itself otherwise the squad may not recover in time.
They have to show the mean business by winning straight away and I’m not sure Foz will put his trust in Shooter for this match.

This test has banana skin written all over it if we are “rotating players” or “giving the Super rugby finalists a rest”.
Mendoza is a tough place to play.

In the forwards, I noted Mils on The Breakdown had Codie Taylor penciled in to start, and that won't surprise me.
I reckon it might be:
de Groot, Taylor, Lomax
Retallick, Barrett
Frizell, Cane, SaveaTaukei'aho, Williams, Tu'ungafasi, Vaa'i, Papali'i
I hope big Tamaiti gets a run.
As previously, I'd like to see them start Scott at 6, Vaa'i at lock and that would allow Finau and Papali'i on the bench.
But, I suspect they won't.

Better than starting at 15. But Id prefer DMac to cover 1st and 15. Luckily we have options

@Tim mate I would have Cane starting over Papalii , just think his game is much more suited to test rugby ie hige wrokrate and doing the shit work well. We will big games with defance, and getting arses off ground and working, more than occasional runs with ball in hand. Well my take anyway, I think Cane has played better at test level than he gets credit ofr as he not and never has been a highlights package player. Well just as I see it anyway.Sam Cane vs Wales in 2018 Millennium stadium.

2022 vs Japan (?) Never seen an All Black 7 so off the pace.
But I agree, his Super form warrants he start and on song, is a proven campaigner. I just hope they don't hesitate to start another if Cane returns to his 2022 form. -
