Well done Parker, you've done Samoa proud. Also a big thank you to the NZ government for missing the bus and giving Samoa the chance to be advertised to the world.

The mystique around his Samoan heritage was completely undone by walking out to Phil Collins.

Easy now. King Kapisi and Che Fu can't exactly compare with anything PC has done.

@mimic The only thing is that the ad they replayed over and over hardly advertised Samoa as anything more than a swing bridge and a swimming hole. Malielegaoi spent all that money but I'd be surprised if there is a massive jump in Samoan tourism.

That fat c@nt just wants to play big dog. I noticed he made good on his promise to get the Rock there too.....on the big screen....

I managed to watch the last 7 rounds at a pub but couldn't hear the commentary from the cheap seats. Rounds 6-12 looked fairly even to me and neither fighter looked that confident at the final bell.

Does anyone know where the judges were from? I know they couldn't be from NZ/Aust or USA/Mexico so I assume Canada, Latin America or from Europe. Ruiz did mention pre-fight that home advantage was worth 2 pts and so it proved with the scorecard of 2 of the judges.

I think I heard there were two thais but I mightve heard wrong,

Was a difficult one to score , I had Ruiz up due to his early rounds , but he did fade with the amount of pressure he applied through the middle stages which allowed Joe to score off his jab, so its possible some would see him pinching more rounds than others

Ruiz looks more beat up than Parker, if that is any indicator 😉

I rewatched the fight and there were a shit load of body shots from Parker. That double and triple jab really helped too. Ruiz counter punched for most of the back end of the fight and usually after Parker had already landed 2 shots. So Parker was throwing on average 2-1 from about round 6.

As to the facial damage people take hits differently. Shane Cameron just needed his opponent to look at him and he'd start bleeding. But in this case I think it was a fair indication of who got hit the most.

Ruiz came to the ring with a shiner though. I noticed it straight away.

For anyone who cares Tyson Fury is a prize c@nt. When he was champ he was singing Parkers praises now hes on the outside looking in hes calling him a bum. Shannon Briggs even felt the need to hold an impromptu intervention ringside about his ballooning weight. Fury had it out with Joshuas promoter too. He was unhappy at being made to pay for his £200 ringside ticket. To that I say "who the fuck do you think you are?" You disgraced yourself and the sport so don't expect any favours you git.

Bob Jones is a bitter man that very seldom has anything positive to say about boxing , makes you wonder why he bothers following it

kind of strange he is held in such high regard , in international boxing circles he is a nobody

The last day or so has really shown that the tall poppy syndrome has not been wiped out in NZ. People deriding someone else's achievements to make themselves feel important.
I was hoping this crap had lessened more than this by now but it is certainly alive and kicking.
The fight was obviously close and people will have, and are entitled to, their own opinions that may differ to the result. It's the ones that refuse to acknowledge that the JP team have done well that are pissing me off.
They have worked hard to create the situation where maybe some luck has gone their way. I can only imagine that hard work and long hours put in by Duco to secure that home advantage along with the obstacles and knockbacks along the way.
I don't think they are necessarily a great bunch but FFS they do dereserve acknowledgement of completing a task well just as JP deserves acknowledgement for doing the deed.

My gut feeling is Duco will be trying to hang onto it as long as possible and doing their best to avoid guys they think Joe may struggle with ,

But the WBO could easily throw a spanner in the works and dish up a mandatory like Haye ,

Not brother but cousin. Anyway, the talk is that Hughie is trying to line up a shot at Wilders WBC belt so those two opponents may not be next up, unless Wilder is keen for a unification bout.

The new name floating about is american Jarrell Miller who is 18-0 but yet to fight anyone of note.

I still reckon a fight vs Whyte on the AJ vs Wlad undercard would be a good option, especially for the UK market. Whyte had a good win over Chisora on the weekend and only lost to AJ in the past. Has bit of a mouth on him too and I think hes called out Parker previously so would be an interesting buildup.

Cant wait for AJ vs Vlad by the way. I know Vlad is seen by some as being a bit past it but all his experience will make things real interesting vs AJ who I reckon is awesome but yet to really face anyone of note.

Fury has done a Rosberg I think. Got to the top, taken a look at the situation and figured out that this is his peak - unlikely to go on an dominate / win mutliple titles etc.

                                        So walking away.

And there is nothing wrong with that at all.
