It would be great if it happens, I would really like to see the Argies back in SR.

I really like the idea of the Argies returning to SR, but I wonder what the change in format will be like? I mean, 13 teams makes a format difficult, so will one of the current teams drop out or will they add a 14th team (maybe from Japan)?

@Stargazer maybe 2 Argie teams and a Japanese one? But format would need a full re-work however they do it.

I wonder how they will do the draw for Argentina themselves. I assume they will do mini tours? Seem a bit rough having to fly to AUS/NZ every other weekend.

    @Stargazer

I hope it is an add on team,a team from Japan would be good.
More Diversity in SR is great for our players ,
    Different environments to play in,
Different opposition, plus growing the commercial markets and engaging more fans from different countries.
It would make us less reliant on Australia if that goes to shit again.

@canefan It was the Japan RFU that pulled them out, because they no longer wanted to finance it. They'll have to put a team together differently if they want a Japanese team to be competitive. No one is waiting for Sunwolves 2.0. They were useless.

It will also depend on the rugby calendar whether it's possible at all, because at the moment SRP and Japan League One run at the same time.

    God, this would be terrible.

NZ, and Aus, need to downscale the pro club/franchise to national comps .

Concentrate the 'elite' level at TRC only and open up their selection policies to overseas players.

Build up their domestic comps, at a financial level that is sustainable, but based on rivalries, not based on quality. Because, quite frankly, the sport is a bit garbage at the moment so got to get 'the hook' based on a more sustainable pull than 'quality of rugby'.

A 'mediocre' Brisbane Brothers v Randwick will outperform SR, cost a tenth , might even be able to subsidize amateur club player's subs.

Let France and Japan take 80 % of your costs off your hands. With the bonus of dispersing your players to where the best coaches are and also therefore getting a better national team.

I , for one, am much comforted at the news the dinosaurs have planned and modelled on the meteor missing Earth.

It will probably be the ARU who will forced to adapt first, anyway.

@Stargazer Japan didnt give much credence to the Sunwolves from the outset did they?

Which is why they were made up of so many players from NZ / Aus rather than the best local Japanese (or even ex NZ/SA/Aus players) who were playing the Japanese comp.

Maybe we need to see if we can add 2 or 3 teams to thier comp with an aim to get Japan into a SH comp, with Fiji, finally realise we dont hold all the cards?
