    Black Caps squad named:

Kane Williamson (c), Devon Conway, Will Young, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Mark Chapman, Glenn Phillips, Jimmy Neesham, Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Matt Henry, Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/cricket/black-caps/300968032/jimmy-neesham-mark-chapman-make-black-caps-squad-for-cricket-world-cup

Nicholls, Allen, and Milne among those to miss out, with M Bracewell still on the injured list. The big question for our top order - will Kane be fit, but undercooked?

The undercooked part will be a certainty, I'd wager.

He'll either be (barely) fit and undercooked, or he'll be unfit and undercooked.

I assume it will be a deathly long tournament, as CWC usually are, so by week 43 6, he'll be a chance of being in form, maybe.

That's actually a very strong team on paper.

It had never occurred to me that I would live long enough to think that the BCs would have better chance of winning a World Cup than the ABs, and yet here I am writing it.

Still don’t think we’ll win, but it is a good team and at least seems to have had some logic applied to selection. No FA (appropriate initials). When they get cricket down to T10 he can play.

I'm guessing one of Chapman/Ravindra might play ahead of one of Henry/Southee.

Partly to lengthen the batting, and depending on how they read the pitches. Especially with Mitchell and the Neesh offering medium pace alongside Boult and one of Henry/Southee.

Edit: might also depend on how much Philips is seen as a slow bowling option.

Ravindra seems to have big game temperament, and Chapman has had some exciting innings in recent times

Sodhi has done bloody well to get us within 4 calls of 50 overs. Watching the Wahs 😞 so no idea if the pitch is dead and that is an ok score though.

All all round performance from Ish on a par with the days when Dan Vettori used to do everything.

Hoping he carries that form through for a massive WC performance, we'll need it!!

Keep reading pieces suggesting India are big favourites for this tournament, personally think it could be the most open for a while with quite a few teams who could ‘come off’ in a big game, England, NZ, Saffas all look dangerous to me

Very pleasing performances leading into the cup. Bangles in those conditions can be very challenging but we've put them to the sword a couple of games in a row.

I believe that is the first ODI series win in Bangladesh ever.

That is a bloody good win since both Kane and Mitchell retired after notching up half tons. Pretty much every batsman except Conway made a useful contribution.

Kane's already ruled out of the opener but should have two warmups under his belt before the tournament gets under way, so feels like he'll be ready for our second game.

Afghanistan looking quite comfortable against Bangladesh so far. 39-0 after 7 overs

They are replacing the Windies so they have a bit to live up to.
