Fuck the French looked good. Think who ever they play could be in trouble. Will have to C the out come of tomorrow but SA could be done and unless either we or the Paddies step up big time they will go all the way. They are one well drilled outfit 4 sure. Just my 2 cents worth. BTW love Crowley, yes they should keep him !!

Reading through this thread I am happy I didn't see the game. It sounds like Jonker the Plonker was at his best again.

You can bet he'll be the TMO in the big games.

    🤮

Having a gladiatorial sport commentated on by a women with a shrill voice doesn't feel right.

France look great, but by christ they are getting kissed on the dick by the ref. They are getting absolutely everything

It's lucky no one cares about Italy because this has been a disgraceful tournament by them.

It was generally accepted they had improved, they turned up and copped a couple of absolute thumpings.

I don’t have the time or energy but can somebody please edit a video of great moments in history swiftly followed by Jonker’s intervention, please?

We an actually have some good refs other than Barnes, but they’re not at the RWC. I’m amazed that Carley and Dickson got the gig, they are two that give you the cold sweats when you see them reffing your team.

Yeah he would be close to the top of my list of English refs. How those other two got the nod over him beggars belief

You have got to wonder after 18 years in the 6 Nations why the Italians have not improved, I reckon if you stuck Tonga ,Samoa and Fiji in that same comp they would be much more of a threat

You don't watch the 6N do ya?

Given how Dickson, Jonkers and the crowd reacted in this game, should we just call France versus whoever (I'm trying to be open minded and pretend Scotland have a chance) a 20 point thrashing by France after a few cards and a one-sided penalty count?

That's me just being optimistic that MAYBE the IRB will try and improve the standard of refs for the semis and finals and other teams may have a chance.

@PecoTrain dollars to donuts that Carley, Dickson, Pearce and Jonkers will all be involved in finals rugby.

Well France with the crowd behind them playing unlimited free penalties from the ref isn't beatable. In my humble opinion...

Amen. Saw the ref the other day was Barnes and thought “bugger”

I realise the levels of angst toward Barnes are (unreasonably) high among Kiwi fans, but he's actually about the best ref going around at the moment.

Yeah, low bar, and I still don't like his style . He often coaches one side and refs the other. I was at Cardiff and he is the reason that I haven't attended a live RWC match since. Previously I travelled the world going to RWC and tests. I'm unlikely to forgive him for destroying my faith in rugby as a fair contest, or the officials to 100% of the time conduct it as such. IIRC France gave away 2 penalties, that is unheard of and many of the infringements were very clear from the stands.

I still follow rugby obviously, it is in my blood, but cricket (test mostly) has exceeded it as my sporting passion. The advances in tech, and the evolution of the rules to incorporate that, has taken some of the officiating anomalies out of the contest. It has given the power back to the players, where it should be. Tennis has done the same, and even league has a captain's challenge and better use of TMO.

That should be in the "rugby in general" probably, but it is a reply to a post here, so...

his communication is very clear and doesn't seem to get rattled often, but in 2007 he really should have gone to Refsavers.

That incident, along with underarm, is the Double Penetration with no lube in the Niu Zulland Sporting Book Of Grudges.

Forget the other 79 minutes where the ABs didn't play better than France 🤣

…..or the fact that McKechnie had Bob Hope and no hope of hitting a six off the last ball.
