Pretty impressive performance from NZ given all the outs. Part time bowlers taking wickets and then two sensational batting performances. Only down side is as someone previously mentioned is that the tournament is so long, you could easily play yourself out of form come finals.

However that is still an amazing result over England and the team should be proud

@bayimports three very winnable matches in a row for us next up. Hopefully Conway and Ravindra keep their form, and Williamson can play his way into some.

@Canes4life unlike a lot of teams we actually have a pretty good schedule, Ian Smith was laughing with a SA colleague during the last warm up match that perhaps they felt sorry for NZ in the last World Cup lol

@Virgil better to have the tough matches later so it hardens us up for the playoffs.

The Cricket World Cup is on at the same time as the Rugby World Cup.

What a time to be alive.

@Canes4life with everyone playing everyone, you cant avoid any tough matches.

the draw is pretty good for us, we had a tough match first up which we smashed. Now theres a chance to pick up some wins and ease injured players like Williamson and Southee back before the tough ones come along.

though in saying that given where we are playing and the conditions. We would be foolish to take the Bangles lightly. Even the Dutch cant be taken too lightly.

I think the difference Ian Smith was highlighting that with some of our matches we are in the same city back to back for matches, some other teams are flying everywhere constantly lol.

The worst part for me is that I am in India for a week from tomorrow but never hit the right city to see any games, except from a local pub of course.

No he hasn't. Actually a bit disappointing start at international level IMO compared to his talent and my hopes.

Yes, but in tests he has been picked as a spinner which I don't think he is good enough for (at the moment) in that form of the game. Even in ODI's I'm not sure he is going to be more than a part timer, was quite surprised Latham kept bowling him last night especially considering his wicket was a fluke.

He has a lot of promise but even his domestic record doesn't suggest he is dominating the game (Kane dominated domestic before he was in the Black Caps):
                                  https://www.espncricinfo.com/cricketers/rachin-ravindra-959767

Lets hope this tournament will be a turning point for him.

Read somewhere a year or so back that Devon and Rachin used spend a lot of time practicing together around Wellington cricket, so that may have been a big plus when they got to bat together too.

Rachin is still 23, so plenty of time ahead.

Stuff article talks about how his first name is a portmanteau of Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar. Probably a good sign that your Dad will happily take you to the nets when asked...

Good to see that kid with the pushy dad in those annoying ANZ ads finally made it.

You joke ..... But, his Dad owns (or owned) an indoor cricket centre in the Hutt, and he uploaded a video to youtube about 15 odd years back of a 7 year old Rachin batting totally immaculately against a really fast bowling machine. The digitally-minded of the NZ cricketing anoraks have been expecting his arrival on the big time for a long time.

                                          From that Stuff article...

                                          Practice makes perfect
Nearly every morning as a high school student, Ravindra would head to the nets in Wellington with his father Ravi.

When he wasn’t training with his father, Ravindra was in the gym working on gaining strength and speed, and improving his power game in the nets.

"I have a hit with my dad in the mornings," Ravindra told Stuff in a 2018 interview. "He's been a great help ever since I started playing cricket.
