RWC SF: England v Springboks

@Victor-Meldrew it is out now. It has to be investigated. If Curry made it up, he needs to be banned for sullying Mbonambi’s reputation.
World rugby can’t do nothing.

Oh I think they can, and they often do. Nothing, that is.

Needs investigating and a ban if true. Ditto a false allegation. Some things shouldn't be left on the park
England flanker Tom Curry alleged to referee Ben O’Keeffe that South Africa hooker Bongi Mbonambi called him a “white c---” during the Springboks’ World Cup semi-final victory.
The incident occurred just before the half-hour mark with England leading 9-3 as Curry approached O’Keeffe, the New Zealand official.
On the referee’s microphone, Curry can be clearly heard asking, “Sir, Sir, if their hooker calls me a white c--- what do I do?”
O’Keeffe replies: “Nothing please.” He then adds “I will be on it” although it is not clear if this in reference to Curry’s complaint, but he takes no action against Mbonambi. There is no audible evidence of Mbonambi’s alleged abuse.
After the final whistle, Mbonambi refused to shake Curry’s hand.
Following the game the Sale Sharks openside was asked if Mbonambi said something he should not have, he replied, “yeah” but would not confirm the exact details. “It does not need to be talked about.”

FIFY.

Who's ever heard of a white curry anyway

@stodders said in RWC SF: England v Springboks:
@Bones Granted.
Exclusive: it is believed that Wayne Barnes always looks 90 degrees away to the left of forward passes even if he accidentally points to them.

Absolute dickhead behaviour from Willie Le Roux on the final whistle yesterday. Good thing BOK was there to restore order straight away or else things could have got very ugly quickly.

2 things:
- I just read that England kicked away 93% of their possession - that's insane, even after watching it
- I see Pollard got MOM - wonder of that's the first time a reserve has won that accolade in a RWC knockout game? Maybe an injury-replacement at some point, but surely not a tactical sub?

Hope we get Wayne again.

That’s what I was talking about in the derailment!

What an absolute prick of a player. For that alone I hope your boys smash them next week.

That is the most physical I have seen Willie in years, he's no Simpson janitor!

@The-Irishman every team has dickhead trust me we are no angels in this space could not imagine Siya Kolesi acting like this
Sometimes what’s happens during the 80 minutes should stay thereCan recall a conversation I had with Offisa Tonu many years ago ,when he played SA super teams in the republic especially being called so many derogatory names during the 80 minutes only to be invited to a barbecue post match by the same guy.

@Bones where’d you get that photo from?

@Catogrande given most of the Bok forwards are Afrikaners, he’s probably speaking Afrikaans a lot of the time to them so they understand

@stodders Bongi is afrikaans speaking. There was n issue in 2011 WC when the ref misunderstood blinde kant."blind side"

Complicated eh. Remember when Andrew Symonds and Harbajan Singh has the whole Monkey/Maanki -gate? You can genuinely believe you were insulted, and potentially be completely wrong.

No, but you can imagine a context where "wit kant" could be used - e.g, having a pop after contesting a breakdown - "You're the white side/jou die wit kant"

To me this just seems a convenient cover-up. I don't speak Afrikaans of course, but at least as an English translation this makes zero sense. It also depends on the context of course, what words were said around it.
