I am picking up some chatter on social media that agreement in principle has been reached for the All Blacks and Springboks to have alternating tours to the other again - every 4 years.
Sounds like 3 Tests, and some midweek games.

It is chatter I am picking up for now so I can't point to any official source. But the guys doing the talking are reasonably on the money always.

    Anyone else aware of this?

If this pans out to be correct, it would be a step in the right direction to keep me engaged in the game.

Would love to know how it's supposed to fit into the calendar...

Taking the place of inbound tours during the Lions series (when teams are supposed to be playing more often against T2 nations)? As an additional game during the Rugby Championship?

Wonder how this would affect World Rankings.

It's been discussed between the Boards after the Twickenham success. A long tour between the teams will be perfect.

I heard a rumour a few months ago that this had been agree in principle for the same time period as the Lions tour of Oz.

Same as any other test, winner takes points from the loser based on some maths

I’m no expert but I’d say whoever wins goes up and whoever loses goes down

This could mean tours comeback for all nations. I remember tours to New Zealand with provincial teams even from small towns giving some of the touring teams a touch up.

How does this work with the new nations champ, and RC, and Lions and RWC, and minnows getting more shots at Tier 1 outside of Nations years? I am really wondering how they fit it in, esp as Boks don't have access to their players outside the windows.

i saw the same noise on the socials i think

i like the idea as a stand alone idea....but less attractive if we're still playing them twice a year in the RC, im in the camp of too much the same stuff is one fo the things putting people off...if its because they are joining the 6N and so we wont be playing them regularly...then great

3 Tests plus other matches. So it would be 1 more Test match than the normal schedule.

The franchise matches? I presume the side selected in most of those games will look a lot more like the AB XV than the Test side

I am stoked this maybe coming to reality. The thought of tours even every 4 years with the Boks excites me no end. I just love the idea on top of everything else that the special relationship we have had over the years with SA will come to something. Even said to Mrs although I reckon I don't need a lot more trips overseas, can see me trying to sneak us on a supporters tour to SA!

There’s different talk between us both, not just at international level but age-grade development, about how we make sure we connect and let players experience the great rivalry.”

NZ will probably join England, France and SA u20s in the annual international series and u18 tournament in July/August

SANZAAR will be holding the first-ever U20 Rugby Championship on the Sunshine Coast in May, so that is a start.

100% - especially the chance to support the boks in person as they try to finally avenge 96.

Which reminds me. Late morning of the second test, Fitzy’s boys at history’s doorstep. brunch at some hotel in Durban fill to the tits with excited kiwis. Fair few overexcited ones.

Old mate at the table next to us looks rough, probably feels rougher: underestimated Cane’s destructive powers. he’s swaying, obviously got a bastard behind his glassy eyes, and the strain of not spewing the one bite of egg he takes is etched on his green face.

With obvious effort, he lifts the table cloth, revealing an even rougher kiwi. His ABs jersey smeared with chunder he lies quietly moaning curled between the chairlegs. There is no way he’s making it to kickoff.

With impeccable timing, the slightly less rough bloke tuts: don’t worry mate, you’ll be alright. Just pace yourself.

    And drops the tablecloth.
