The pitch is pancake flat but, nonetheless, Jamal has done fabulously well and great support from Hamza - holding up his end.

Jamal has his highest score in first class cricket against one of the best ever attacks.

Bowling with some of the most mystifying tactics.

This Aussie attack is a fucking ridiculous as a long established foursome.

Hazlewood the only one not to 250 wickets, and even he is only 6 off. Lyon obviously past 500, Starc closing in on 350. Cummins with the best record of the lot, 256 in only 58 tests, averaging 22.
Total combined record of 1,348 wickets at 27.

Pretty amazing grouping. I’d say at a guess the Windies pace attack of the 80s would average a bit less but it’s pointless comparing eras in one sense and I can’t cut and paste the cricinfo article anyway so fuck it.

      Good stuff Australia.

Slow going for Aus today, then lost both their openers. Looks like no more play today thanks to light and then rain

the problem was the soft as butter australian who found a tiny object on the massive screen and stopped play. not SCG's problem, twitchy Smith's problem.

Game is crawling long, Aussies on go slow but also dropping wickets. Old mate's 82 looking even more like a gem of knock now.

Happened Day 1 with one of the Pakistan bats as well.

                    So not just Smith

Should maybe focus on the three short covers rather than the tiny speck on the sightscreen

Jamal's having a great game but, fuck me, that's some ball to bowl Shafique (once he found his line)!

                                    ...and now Hazelwood has Masood.

The commentators often go on about unplayable balls and you think - Sachin or Brian or Viv or Don would have played that comfortably.

But that Starc one reminds me of Fred Trueman cleaning up some kid.

On one occasion, a Cambridge University batsman, having just been dismissed, acknowledged him with the condescending compliment: "That was a very good ball, Mr Trueman". Trueman replied: "Aye, wasted on thee".

It was going to get most!
