Huge pressure on Williamson now, who only avarages a mere 38 against Ausitralia.

His caerrer averages are quite interesting, high 30's against Aus, IND and ENG, 65+ against everyone else.

Worth noting at the end of his career when deciding if him or Hadlee is number one.

Paddles didn’t have anywhere near as much of a chance to decimate the minnows.

That might be the worst shot of Rachin's career so far

Sounded very irresponsible for a number four so close to lunch. The Radio commentators certainly went on about it.

It was awful. A wide ball that he had no business to play at the over before lunch having only recently got to the crease

@Windows97 would love to see that stat for all the other top batters in the world I’d guess it’s pretty similar

@Yeahtheboys For quick reference Sam Smith averages 56 V Eng and 66 V India and below that against everyone else excluding the West Indies (avg 125). He's a bunny against the Bangles however with a mere average of 30 😉

Hazlewood is exploiting the seam brilliantly. Class player.

                in isolation that looks bad

For India and Aus there is a bit of mitigation
Only 11 tests v Aus, 7 of them in Aus
13 test v India, 8 of them in India
So of the two good teams, 24 tests, 15 away.

The England record is weirder. 16 tests, even split home and away. And yet lowest average of the lot.

                It's certainly not great.
Kohli averages 47 v Aus over 25 tests, and 42 v England over 28 tests
Root averages 40 v Aus over 34 tests, and 57 v India over 30 tests
Smith averages 56 v England over 37 tests, and 66 v India over 19 tests

So Kane gets less chances to score against this better teams, but you would find it hard to make an argument he's seized the chances he has been given. Playing away so much doesn't help, but it's not like he's cashing in at home either.

It's relatively easy to see why fans from the bigger nations don't hold Kane in the same esteem as us.
But they miss the point that relative to everyone else in NZ history, he stands out like dogs balls.

I got to watch him score a hundred at the 'gabba. I'll always remember that.

Dunno about that. Average of 12.78 against SL with 37 wickets in only 6 tests

Everyone else was in the 20's

His kryptonite was away in Pakistan - averaged 47 in 1976 and never chose to tour again.

Apart from SL he dined out on Oz 130 wickets @ 20.56

I sadly agree with a a lot of this.

Contrast this with one of my personal favourites Brian Lara who averaged 52.88 ( with fuck all not outs compared to others )

He faced McGrath, Gillespie, Warne, Waqar, Wasim, Murali, Kumble, Donald, Pollock……plus others who I can’t think of……

…..and lets be honest for most of his career the Windies were pretty shite on the whole.

a bit of an aside, but i wonder if there are some worried guys at Cricket Australia

This attack of theirs is relentless, as good as any that has gone around, all four have incredible records, and are seemingly ever-present.

                                But

They are 30, 33, 34, and 36. There is a chance all 4 of them finish at about the same time. Aus have a heap of promising seamers floating around (not so much in the spin department), but promise doesn't always equal results.

There are already concerns at the lack of genuine batting options coming through, and the current line-up is at best brittle. This Aus team could just completely fall in a heap in a few years.

That's not going to help Kane's average vs the Big 3...

Williamson is really starting to majorly tarnish his legacy with an inability to perform at the top level against the best, that was a very soft dismissal that he played al around.

His caerrer averages are quite interesting, high 30's against Aus, IND and ENG, 65+ against everyone else.

                                        in isolation that looks bad

There's a research project somewhere in working out the new advancements the Black Caps specialist coaches have made in being Teflon...

Our batsmen just aren't quite good enough to put on enough runs against this lineup (which is one of the best ever TBF). If we could just get through to 325+ this innings then we're right in this game, but we're struggling to get beyond 200 in any innings. Which is a shame as our bowlers can actually knock over this fairly brittle Aus battling lineup but just don't quite have enough runs to play with.
