There's no way the Aussies would take him at this point. They've already ditched Quade, and have clearly opted for a policy of excluding 'ring ins' and picking their established 7s specialists.

Wasn't going to make the playing roster for the NFL, as we've seen the Eels don't have room in the salary cap for him (if they ever did) and this is simply PR. The demands of training and playing 7s is completely at odds with the work he's been doing over the last couple of years for the NRL. He won't be playing for Fiji in London, so they've no idea how well he could play. And it's not like Fiji are desperate for some 7s playing talent this year. Ben Ryan would have to have an aneurysm to select him for Rio without at least one competition under his belt.

You guys catch the drug policy that might scupper this? NFL ain't clean and Hayne won't have time for the 6 month stand down and testing in rugby. Or something to that effect.

Meanwhile, anti-doping laws could stop Hayne from competing at the Rio Olympics for the Fijian sevens team, according to former Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority boss Richard Ings.
â€‹He said World Rugby rules require players to be in a registered testing pool for six months to be eligible to compete at sanctioned competitions.
And according to Ing, Hayne's stint in the NFL does not fit the requirements.
"If Jarryd Hayne had been playing in WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) compliant sport he would have grounds to reduce the six months," Ings tweeted on Monday morning.
"But NFL is PED (performance enhancing drugs) badlands. No chance."
Ultimately, the decision on whether Hayne would be cleared to play will come down to World Rugby, while the former NRL star could appeal any decision which goes against him.
But Ings believes the restriction is a vital one.
"The six-month return to competition rule is standard across most sports for athletes returning to international competition. And necessary," Ings tweeted.
"The rule equally applies to reinstatement or to new players. Sensibly it must or any NFL player could bulk up and play."
Hayne's hopes of being cleared to play should increase though given fellow NFL-convert Nate Ebner debuted for the United States at last month's Singapore World Sevens tournament - just a month after he left the New England Patriots.
 
That last bit may mean it isn't as cut and dried as I'd heard

World Rugby notes the announcement that Jarryd Hayne wishes to pursue new sporting challenges with the Fiji rugby sevens team and has moved to address speculation regarding the playerâ€s availability under Regulation 21 to play sevens. 
World Rugby is committed to the highest-possible anti-doping standards. The WADA-compliant World Rugby Regulation 21 mirrors the requirements of the World Anti-Doping Code and the WADA International Standard for Testing and Investigations. It does not require a player to be included in a testing pool for a defined period of time prior to selection if they are being selected for international competition for the first time. This position is entirely consistent with World Rugbyâ€s approach to other cross-over athletes, including other ex-NFL athletes coming into rugby. 
Therefore, Hayne would be eligible for the London round of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series subject to all other regulatory and registration matters being met. He would also be immediately included in World Rugbyâ€s pre-Rio 2016 risk-based testing programme, which since January 2016 has included a comprehensive programme of targeted in and out of competition blood and urine testing on players likely to compete in Rio. The pre-Games programme also includes regular additional screening for substances such as ESAs and human growth hormone, and both steroidal and haematological athlete biological profiling

Voss was on the radio this morning, he was pretty scathing about the way Hayne has done this given he was supposedly approached in Feb, and then 3 months later decided to chase this dream...gotta feel for the bloke that's been in the squad all along that Hayne is gonna push out, just cos.
