This is a rather silly discussion unless someone defines a job.

It's a fairly loose term that gets used in various ways.

@crucial Do you (generic use) mean job/ work as in effort or employment? Being a parent is clearly the former, not the latter.

I saw this Seppo comedian who was taking the piss out of Oprah, which is always amusing. His stance on her introducing a woman that had "the hardest job in the world. She's a Mother". Was tell that to the guys who worked 40 years down a coal mine and are enjoying emphysema.

There is a difference between doing something that is sometimes tough and something that is a job and just hard bloody work.

Parenting can be tough and if you're the primary carer it can be bloody tiring, but...

Thats what I mean. No use debating whether something is a job unless you define job. Otherwise everyone argues from their own interpretation.

Having very scientifically scanned through the comments on stuff and NZ Ferald it’s reassuring to see around 87.56% ( I made that up, but it’s high very high) of people agree parenting is not a job.
So who the fuck keeps pushing this ridiculous counter claim that it is?

    Thomas spelled his surname wrong:

Heathen: "an irreligious, uncultured, or uncivilized person."

While I struggle to accept the concept of "bad" bacon - article is correct in that almost all the mass produced stuff is a poor substitute for the real thing.

All you guys that heap derision on Lion Red are quaffing Garage Project while waiting for your mass produced water pumped version of Tuis to come off the BBQ.

Like the guy said find a decent supply from your local butcher or market - or cure your own. It's surprisingly easy and you won't regret it.

@dogmeat I am standing by my assertion that any bacon is better than no bacon.

I did a 6 week course years ago that had a a cafeteria. There were Muslims and the kitchen had to cook turkey "bacon" and lamb "bacon", whilst they weren't bad I have had an issues with bacon withdrawal ever since.

It was 25 years ago and the counseling isn't working.

Good bacon = great food. The quality level of the product increases exponentially when consumed.
Rubbish bacon is rubbish. Water pumped, tough, doesn't sizzle etc etc.

Even I n the land of the supposedly great 'full English' the same rules apply. You have to hunt out the real stuff among the rubbish.
I was making my own for a while but then found the easily accessible "Heston Alder Wood Smoked' at Waitrose. Beautiful, crisp and with the right fat ratio. Uses molasses and malt in the cure.
