Old, but interesting (and chilling) article about the longest non parole periods. Most interesting, the points at the end regarding changes to the law in 2002. Apparently the minimum non-parole period was increased from 10 years to 17 years where aggravating factors were present. So I would be curious to know how fuckface only got 12.

Because liberals cling to the hope they can be rehabilitated, doesn't matter that it costs the tax payer about 100k a year per prisoner.

@mn5 I hope SO MUCH the non-parole period wasn't reduced because of fucking 'remorse'. Every time I see that as a mitigating sentence factor, it makes me so ragey. Anyone can pretend to be sorry after the fact. It should have no bearing on sentencing.

It's well known that our sentencing is an absolute joke. It infuriates me too.

Well worth reading, it’ll be interesting to see where Vice is in a year . Can’t say I’ll miss them much if they do fold, I’m sure established media outlets are only too happy to write articles like this undermining them and the price they are trying to sell for .
