    @taniwharugby

My bro and I got barred from Little HQ for pretty much this in Feb last year. He'd just arrived in NZ after months only able to leave his apartment in Singapore once a week and then two weeks in MIQ. He took a couple of generic photo's of the bar to send to mates in Europe ' look at this - no masks - people out enjoying themselves' sort of thing.

Two young slappers literally ran over and got in his face accusing him of staring at them and videoing them kissing. He denied this - they demanded his phone - He refused as it was a work phone - one of them throws his beer in my brothers face (I copped a bit too) the other smacked him in the side of the face . Brother turns to complain to bouncer and about 20 of their mates pile in. Half trying to do us and the other half trying to apologise for the- their words "mad bitches". Bit of a maul. We get thrown out and issued with a lifetime ban.

Ended up pretty messy as we had been thinking of heading home but we were fucked off so went elsewhere and kept drinking until 3:00.

they weren't even in the fucking photos!

This is why I hate young people.

Pissing and moaning about something like that and then retorting with attempted robbery and assault.

    We'd have smashed them bro

After all two guys in their 60's - one thinks he 35 the other one feels 75. Up against 10-15 pissed up 20 somethings. What could possibly go wrong?

They’d all be too busy trying to find their phones to film any action. My money would be on you two.

@dogmeat shit thing to happen but a bit of karma.

People in NZ who thought it was fun to send pics of them out having fun whilst we were locked down up here really had no idea of the harm they were causing.

I’m glad people like Chloe are around to tell us what we’re allowed to find funny or not

I might be judging a book by its cover but the words ‘barrel of laughs’ and ‘Chloe’ look like an uneasy mix at best.

This gives me eery flashbacks of the chicken and falafel kebab I got that took nearly an hour and didn’t have any chicken in it.

I can’t believe stuff.co.nz didn’t reach out for my story.

@MN5 Most countries have a 'newspaper' that features this sort of entertainment dross. However, those countries also have a range of newspapers from tits'n'arse to allegedly intellectual broadsheets.

NZ's so small we just have the middle option with the occasional more in-depth feature and a complete lack of nubile norks (channeling my inner Sun).

You’re showing your age by referring them like this.

Cool younger guys like me call them “tits” or “cans”

This was a legitimate email sent to Stuff staff last week. Surprised Stuff hasn't gone on a concerted campaign to cancel itself.

Maybe they would have if they'd asked staff to blackface it...

Cultural appropriation? When I went to my Indian mate's wedding in Malaysia we all bought Indian dress. The guests, including his family thought it was cool. We should all have been ashamed clearly

@Bones said in Alternative needed from the absolute crap of stuff.co.nz:

@Smudge do we know why it's inappropriate?

Because the invite was sent by the 'people experience' team (who have changed their name from the obviously inappropriate Human Resources).
This area of any organisation is always full of people tripping over themselves to avoid 'offence' (read litigation).
We can't have a drink on a Friday on premises because someone might say something with a loosened tongue and upset someone else. And if we go offsite then it has to be made very clear that it isn't a 'work' drink but is a group of individuals that know each other through work and at a private gathering. Even then you have to be careful not to talk shop.
As for dressing up, I can kind of understand that it could end up with some dickhead been seen as parodying a group (probably because they were) so avoidance is the best option. Really dumb idea in the first place tbf.
