What happened in the bronze playoff? Were they just not into it after losing in the SF?

Didn't watch it but heard the US scored a long range try on full-time to take it.

Questions about mental fortitude must be asked...

Watching the SF I couldn't believe how they fell away after looking a million bucks for most of the first half

Canada going into the halftime break having absorbed so much pressure and then that gift of a try made it a contest. By rights they should've been out of the running already.

Then unforced errors came knocking and you could see the Aussie girls tighten up.

The bronze final I think self belief may have started to gnaw at them mentally. Some uncharacteristic big errors when you need to be accurate.

It's crazy that after Rio, NZ women's sevens team wanted revenge against the Aussies but have won 2 golds without having to play against them.

That sequence was unbelievable and seemed to last for ages. The pressure must have been immense, Canada's defensive tried to choke us into a mistake like they did to Aussie. But we threw the ball around, recycled without turning the ball over, and finally broke through

@Bovidae At our tennis club working bee today I was looking at the murals on the rugby club area. The best was a black jersey with Hirini 5 on it. I remarked on the foresight of the artist, choosing someone who was now a world legend.

Love seeing smart NZ halves/playmakers get her 1 on 1 in a major final and then watching her turn on the jets and blast by whoever on the outside.
