Yeah so Eden Park much better than Welly, so simple to drop other locations in these times of financial distress, IMO

      @Machpants

Car or train travel - 2 hours

2 hours flight is about 150 million people!!

Doesn’t matter about the % of the country population.

Twickers only needs to find 0.5% of close surrounding population ti fill it.

      Eden park needs about 3%

      Caketin about 8%

My maths could be slightly out. I’m no Good Will Hunting (but I do like apples)

      @DaGrubster Thats exactly it.

@MikeTheSnow, how much do you think Cardiff tickets would be for an Argie game? Given that stadium is about 25% of the local population!

Although, that more of a whole game day experience really. Given that the stadium is perfectly positioned.

Starting around £35-45 then significantly north of that

Although the tickets for Australia in the Autumn and really well priced, starting at £20

The WRU doesn't rely or expect Cardiff to be the customer

People travel to arguably the best and easiest stadium experience in rugby and make a day / weekend of it

Principality Stadium is the best. Twickers a major letdown

Quite frankly, that’s shithouse and oh so provincial

too many games in Welly. And this isn't the attractive one. And yet places like the Tron don't get one ... I dno't get it. Spread them around FFS

Razor continues to have a massive horn for Blackadder. That's all very well but it's time for him to show everyone why now

it's not just Razor. The last group did everything they could to get him involved as well. I wish someone would tell us what we are missing.

Since you asked... and to post some documented stuff.

                Ethan has a massive motor.

                Best Bronco times:

                McCaw: 4.30
Blackadder 4.32 (4.34 in the article below but there's a podcast where he says 4.32)
                Papalií 4.45

That's pretty good for a guy who's probably slightly bigger than Richie - and will be playing 6.

                https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/super-rugby/110251487/stuff-sports-reporter-challenges-the-crusaders-in-brutal-bronco-fitness-test

                https://www.rugbypass.com/news/watch-cam-roigard-impresses-after-blitzing-all-blacks-pre-season-bronco/

His best position is 7 (especially at this level). If they picked him and Paps and said go to it, it would’ve been very understandable.

                But, he’s picked at 6?

Richie motor doesn’t really equal great AB six.

Btw, I’ll be pleased to be shown I’m wrong if goes great fun’s, but honestly if we want a Crusader 6, it should be either of the other two options.

I'm concerned players are not being given clear roles in this squad. Razor has talked about favouring players that can play more than one position. Against Fiji we had Blackadder starting at 7, and now against Argentina he is starting at 6, a very different position at test level. Why? Against Fiji we had ALB at 12, and he had a very strong game there. Against Argentina we have him starting at 13, again a very different position at test level. Why?

We've seen this strategy fail spectacularly time and again at the top level, and it has ruined players form and confidence. In fact I can't really think of a player that has truly succeeded in regularly playing different positions for the ABs.

I’m not too concerned about the variation whilst it’s early days with the new coaches.

We have seen this movie before. Take Rodders for example. The first test he started under Henry and co in 2004 was at blindside against Wales. Rodders was a pretty versatile player but I don’t think many would classify him as a 6. The following week he started at no8 against France. Fast forward to the Lions series and he started tests at both no8 and openside.

You can’t do that with every loose forward - remember the Holah at blindside test that was a failure - but there are players like Rodders, like Masoe, like Blackadder that can play that role. Sure they had preferred positions no doubt, but they are there to fill a role.

So’oialo is a useful illustration. Wonderful player, but where would he be effective in this AB team? Possibly openside. But without Collins and Luaki to own the Gainline and one of the best breakdown backs of all time, Umaga, to put pressure on the ball, not so sure he’d shine. Especially since the 05 lineout was much stronger than this iteration. Not to mention the stark difference in backline penetration.

Those problems are magnified if you played him at 8 or heaven help you, 6.

But let’s say you had to shoehorn him at blindside. You’d want to add some penetration and stopping power fairly close in. Probably at inside center.

Which is what your coaches should be looking at now, given the forward cattle they have to work with.

All you should be thinking of is finally seeing a win in Wellington!!

C,mon mate, I -don't go to just watch my team win. Was at Irish test down there and loved it, even though we lost.
I had decided to give this one a miss anyway, as NPC started last night and Naki had home game, combined with we were meant to be going Europe in a few weeks.
But after Mrs accident I will now be around for Bledisloe test down there, so will decide if Wallabies excite me enough to go down. I pissed off we got no Bok tests, but will do one of those next year I hope where ever they played.

That is taking hospitality a tad far!

Quite frankly, that’s shithouse and oh so provincial

too many games in Welly. And this isn't the attractive one. And yet places like the Tron don't get one ... I dno't get it. Spread them around FFS

It’s not like the ABs play at home 30 times a year

                            No it isn’t.

I know about 10 people that have been made redundant recently because they worked for Gvt agencies and have currently just got work or are still looking for work. Some of them are regular punters that would have gone to this test but have to prioritise their life situation. Wellington is a different market because most of the crowd that attend matches are bureaucrats.

NZRU should have given this test to Chch or Hamilton. I’ve been to every test in Wellington since 2010 and I’d rather prioritise the Aus test over the Argie test. It’s a no brainer.

If they wanted to sell out the Cake Tin twice they should have had one of the England tests here as it’s a bigger draw card, or lower the prices for Argentina.

Also the fact that Wellington isn't as good as it was 10 - 15 years ago. So not as much of a draw card to out of towners to bother spending a night here. We really don't deserve two test matches.

@Toddy yeah the food isn’t as quality and the beer options are limited. I personally know the new CEO of Sky Stadium having worked with him in a previous role. Hopefully he can turn things around and make the Cake Tin an attractive place to visit again.

They shoulda made this an afternoon test at least. That might have helped matters slightly

I gave up drinking at the stadium years ago. Expensive, macrolagers served from plastic bottles ... with long queues ... just not worth it.
