    UCL Quarter-Final draw is interesting
    PSG v Villa
    Arsenal v Real Madrid
    Bayern v Inter
    Barcelona v Dortmund

PSG should have too much for Villa but former PSG coach Emery is sure to have some plan to contain them and hit them on the break.

Real Madrid also scraped through on pens but as usual they will be favourites as they generally get through.

Hard to pick between Bayern and Inter - actually fancy Inter for this one.

Barcelona should trounce Dortmund, Pedro, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal are purring at the moment.

And on the weekend games, how the hell did Bournemouth not beat Spurs? They really should have had 4 or 5 and then Spurs scored with a freak cross/shot and Kepa blundering into Son for a penalty

2 nil up and should have been possibly 4 or 5 and then the freak goal and kepa mental collapse, it was definitely points lost

PSG were impressive at Anfield. Especially in extra-time. As much as it pains me to say it, they deserved to go through.

Good thing for us is that we're away in Paris in the 1st leg. If we can come away behind by 1 at worst, then we can really target the home leg.

Ironically, our best player currently is PSG loanee Marco Asensio.

North West London is full of Northerners this afternoon. It's the League Cup Final. Liverpool trying to win their first trophy under Arnie Slot. Newcastle United trying to win their first major domestic trophy since 1955.

Tickets were going for £900 each on Friday.

            0-0 after 35 minutes.

Big Dan Burn scores just before half time. Newcastle 1 Liverpool 0.

Isak puts the ball in the back of the net for a second, but the linesman's flag goes up. No goal.

And Isak does get a second. The Toon sent into ecstasy and delirium.

                  Newcastle 2 Liverpool 0

If it stays like this, it's goes to be a messy, messy evening and night on the Tyne.

A twist. Liverpool get one back in the 4th minute of Extra Time.

                    Newcastle 2 Liverpool 1.

All over. Newcastle United have won the 2024-5 English League Cup. Their first major domestic trophy for 70 years.

I'm not a great fan of Newcastle but pleased for them to have finally won another trophy. Ties were against Forest, Wimbledon, Chelsea, Brentford, Arsenal, Liverpool - that's all of the current top 4 so it's a deserved triumph. Liverpool will win the league but the rest of their season has fallen apart within a week. Slot out!

The main thing for Liverpool is, is that they will win the league. Klopp tried winning everything in 21/22 and 23/24 but didn't bring home the Premier League or Champions League.

I have never really warmed to them as a club, but I've had lots of friends from Newcastle and the North East over the years. Very decent people and football and NUFC are their religion so I'm pleased for them.

Liverpool will win the League at a canter. It will probably be OBE, Over By Easter.

But twice this week Slot has been unable to get them up for a big occasion. Both on Wednesday night and today they've lacked energy. So a few question marks on how much they will be going forward, especially if Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold all leave free as they are all out of contract in the summer.

Indeed that is always the major goal. But their massive lead should have enabled them to go for the other trophies which means it will be more of an anti-climax

I'm not usually a fan of keeping older players especially in England where the league is so quick, but yeah, what do they do with Salah and Van Dijk? They're still essential members of their side and no one has really stepped up to show that life will be fine without them. None of the front line score enough apart from Salah, and guys like Van Dijk don't come a long every day. Trent's the younger man, but I think they'll be fine without him of he leaves.

@African-Monkey they will be content once they steal Kerkez, think Real will get Huijsen.

Happy for Eddie Howe, cup to his name is a great effort.

Pity our season will be a mid table finish after where we were, just cant finish off teams at the moment, even if we have plenty of decent chances to do so

You're 5 points off 4th FFS. Still plenty to play for. How far away are you're invalids from returning? I just had a look at your fixture list You still have Leicester, Ipswich, United, Palace (a), Fulham, City (a), Arsenal (a), West Ham (a), Villa. You could conceivably threaten 60 points which woulkd definitely mean European footy next season. I give you a much better chance than Fulham who have a tougher run of fixtures

The team will obviously try, but you cant rely on others to fall over. Only Ipswich and Leicester and West Ham give me confidence on that draw.
Man U on a mini run, Palace going ok, Fulham also doing well, Arsenal, City and Villa will all finish strong I would expect.

Leaving probably 6 points behind in the last month wont make that comparatively easier run any easier.

A chance yes, but outside now for me at best, unless we stun all in the FA cup lol
