Tony brown turned down Razor in 2019 to be part of his AB coaching bid to stay with JJ and Japan.

He didn't turn him down so much as said he would stay with just the JJ team. I didn't get the impression he was anti Robertson just loyal to JJ

But that was then. He was obviously open to offers when Robertson was appointed.

Well he did turn him down because he didn’t join him. Doesn’t matter what the reason was for turning him down.

We have said exactly the same thing basically.

You just never know how Robertson took that or it meant he wouldn’t approach him again or he rates the other guys higher than Brown….who knows?

Tony Brown has a big rep but as I said in another post is it really justified? (Genuine question as I haven’t seen a lot of Tony brown sides)

Boks look good at the moment though….

Yeah, it's rather frustrating they couldn't at least try to make room for Tony Brown (who was off contract in 2024 after finishing up with Japan) considering how they could found room for 8 other assistants of various convoluted descriptions Lol...

It seems to me that if Razor wanted it to happen enough he and Mark Robinson could've made a genuine attempt to get him but Brown simply wasn't part of the 'crew' being ex-Crusaders players or coaches, including the lineout and contact skills coaches Ellison and Flynn.

Well in fairness, Robertson should be allowed to pick his team he wants and the team that has had a lot of success with.

If you look at elite football managers they do the same thing. A whole team of coaches etc are part of the package.

When Klopp left Liverpool it meant around 20 people left too as they were part of Klopp team and slot (the new mgr would bring his own team in).

I yearn for the days where we had a fullback that scored tries.

So very close to knowing who is carrying the can from last week, and whether they can somehow make a decent forward pack out of their shambles of a loose forwards squad selection.

If we lose this week with that team, there will be a lot of faith lost in these coaches... just doubling down on team Cantab.

Damn, TJ is still starting, I wish Cortez got the gig. I'd really would have liked to see Jordan get a run at 15 and have Beaudy as the impact sub. Seems like another meh team, hope these guys can bar the f up.

They're either very confident in doubling down with that loose forward trio, or they're on track for Robertson to be the first one-year All Blacks coach of the modern era.

So far, watching Ethan Blackadder at Test level is like watching Internet Explorer trying to keep up in 2024.

Fucking hell. The only bright spot in that is the selection of Clarke. Looking forward to an honest explanation of why we've gone with the same loose forwards and it better not be "an opportunity to demonstrate they're better than last week". Why TJ again after his last performance?

And why with Dalton and Ethan on the park do we have Sam on the bench?

I'm rapidly yearning for 2023 Foster era.

so all that shit we saw really didn't happen, it was all EdG, Sititi and Reece's fault all along (even when it was the bears i knew it was the reserve #8 who played blindside).

That is fucking hilarious. I note the hugely underwhelming big dumb lump at 12 remains completely imune from accountability? There are a number of players who can consider themselves lucky for the fact that playing poorly no longer affects your selection
