Every time I check in on cricinfo we’ve nabbed another wicket.

    95/6 now.

    You’re welcome.

These two have dug India out of some serious holes in the past, we really need to keep focused here. If we start thinking that we've done the hard work and broken this batting line up these two will both scores hundreds.

4 for for Satnav? Not sure what to make of that.

          Well done that man.

6 wickets in the morning session. Pretty decent start for us.

Sundar is another guy with a handy batting record, so still not really into the tail.

Fucken adhorrent batting from India, but they have been dumb with their pitch prep. If they played us on a flat track, I still feel the extra quality of their spinners would have won out... if they lose this session, New Zealand have one hand on the series!

FFS guys - we had Jadeja!

How didn't someone realise he nicked that onto his pad? No-one even looked interested!

Jadeja has a crazy first class batting record. A triple ton to his name.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. He’d be the best all rounder of all time if he managed that at test level.

@MN5 He'd still be a fair way short of Sir Garfield's batting average, which barring Bradman is among the best ever.

And Gary opened the bowling, then came bck to bowl both left arm orthodox and chinamen. Extraordinary.

I don't know why more modern bowlers don't try this. I don't see why Tim Southee couldn't bowl some decent part time spin. Plenty of batsmen can. He should be at least as good as Joe Root.

                              Lack of innovative thinking!

Yes but he’d have a much better bowling average to even it out.

As it is I reckon Imran compares most favourably with Sobers.

Sobers was one of the best batsmen ever but merely a ‘good’ bowler. Same as Kallis

Well done Santner, that is some effort. Nice comeback from all the criticism on here ( holds hand up surreptitiously)

What has happened to India ? This mighty side is being dealt to by a pace bowler a bit past his best, a part timer and a full timer who hasn’t been able to buy a wicket in ages.

                                      Crickets a funny game….

And as I ramble Santner gets SEVEN !!!

@Chris Ye of little faith! Pressure is a funny thing and after the first test all of the pressure is on India. You would expect them to score 400, but you also would expect them to score more than 46 in the first test 🙂

We will see my money is on a big Indian score
With Gill and Washington they are a much stronger batting line up.
They also scored 462 in the 2nd innings this is a typical Indian pitch they will go well on it.

Pleased for Santner. His role in getting us to the WTC final with a late win at Bay Oval is also not forgotten.
