yeah, relaxing the Origin rules for Tonga and Samoa has definitely had an impact.

Big NRL news is Jonah Pezet signing with the Eels for 12 months and then the Broncos straight after. Insert Melbourne Storm player signing two contracts joke here.

Yeah I feel for the eels on this one, they thought they had their man and then it all changed. Like Ryles will invest much time into Pezet now. Insert Dylan Edwards all over again

    ..well done Broncos though

watch the circus begin now for even Metcalf in November.

Where will Metcalf actually go though? The Dogs are the only one out of the higher placed clubs who I could see making use out of him.

Otherwise he'll only be attracting interest from sides down the ladder.

@African-Monkey I see that the Bears are trying to chase his signature, while the Dragons might be keen to add him to boost their playmaking stocks (hope not)

Does it matter what club though, if he wants to head back to Sydney for family reasons? there would be a few interested. Thats the line the media is using and the warriors are preparing like he is potentially going. Dragons and Souths obvious ones. Rumours now even the Eels might be interested in him as a six given the Pezet saga. Dogs could use one but dont know how much money they have.

Could even see the Sharks making a play, even with Nicho there since he went to Endeavour and played for them previously

And if willing to travel further and its about money and not family then yes the Bears or elsewhere open up, but supposedly its the family thing

I can't believe we're having this speculation about a 26 year old with half a season of good form. But good on him if he's gets to cash in. I wonder if we can do a package deal him and he can take Ford and Capewell with him as well?

Dick Fingers Ford was actually really good this year.
Capewell had a resurgent year as well, but i have seen that before from older players and they do tend to come back to earth with a thump.

I wouldn't be breaking the bank to keep Metcalf but we should be paying him as there are very few options.

Ford is actually pretty good as a middle, doesn't have to do slicing runs where his hands are slower than his feet, but makes a shit load of tackles. Agree on Capewell, not a threat on attack but covered alot and far too much at centre because our centres were way below par. But did ok overall. Need to fix our centres first and foremost. Time catches everyone eventually and that resurgence as you say could be one season only

Warriors not willing to put too much money into keeping Metcalf either which is good news, they're willing to match someone who plays 11 games a season which is probably why he is testing the market.

Yeah, when it's family related, it does change things. It kind of has Dogs written all over it for me if he does actually leave the Wahs. Otherwise Manly or Dragons stick out for me out of the Sydney clubs.

Family reasons is bullshit. It's a bullshit excuse to move and have the club not dig it's feet in

Even in his good year Ford was his usual penalty and ruck infringement machine. A lot of tackles (again in his good year) doesn't balance that out for me.

Yeah, I do I wonder if Capewell's poor defence was just because we were using him at centre too often or if that's just his defence level these days?

If ownership want to rationalise payroll they need to promote as many of the reserve grade players as possible

i feel like you're making 2024 comments. Ford's penalties and errors were way down this year and he was definitey a positive. He makes up part of a great middle rotation.

Dont disagree about being a penalty magnet but covered our ass many times with his work.

The fact the Capewell played backrow in a winning Origin series and series winning game 2 team says to me, he is not the problem. Time for others around him to step up. He is not a centre but covers for his team, I dont think he can defend the speed as he once could but again he is good enough in his proper position. (ageing though so maybe less minutes this year)

He's the only Warrior in the top 50 for average penalties (he had more this year than last year) and he's top 10 for ruck infringements. He missed more tackles this year than last year off less minutes and he made 3 less errors than last year off less minutes.

That 1) doesn't gel with the ye test, and 2) can be explained by moving from a bench edge to a starting middle.

I guess we have different eyes, I saw the penalties and errors this year, and I'd prefer if someone moved to the middle that those type of errors would come down, especially when it comes to tackles where there's less movement than on the edge.

Ford is the same player he's always been, if this level of mediocrity is what we want at the Warriors then lets at least do it with NZ players. Jazz got crucified for his error rate in a position as a ball player where he had more opportunities to make them.

Jazz wasn't great that is for sure. And I do think Webster should lean on the youth this season rather than flog old horses to death
