Hard to say what a par score is in a 37 over match, but it feels like we've ended up with about that. Competitive, but Sri Lanka will more than back themselves to chase it down.

Needed more from Mitchell at the end there. Need Henry to smack 20 odd off this last over and then come out and roll them.

For a change the batsmen deliver for the most part and the tail fail for the most part and I'm still disappointed in a BCs collapse. After forty fucking years I'm still a moron.

Limped home in the end. NZ will need to get early wickets as it is hard to defend on this ground. But runs on the board...

We should have scored another 30 or 40.

On the other hand at this stage it looks like enough.

BC’s right on top, SL imploding with 3 wickets in 5 balls to be 22/4

                        Jeez. These guys can't catch.

Although, it is only fair that ex-buckethands, now-butterfingers, Mitchell cops a drop off his bowling.

                          RRR is 10.59.

This game will just peter out and Sri Lanka will try for a bit of batting practice judging how they’ve played Smiths over

Ok maybe not. Nice from Kamindu hitting chrome dome for a couple of fours to get 50

I’ve realised I haven’t seen Mitchell without a helmet or cap for years, definitely resembles his Dad !

Nathan Smith just took the most amazing catch you’ll ever see.

                              Sri Lanka 136-9.

The "catches" ranged from comical to sublime.

@Duluth said in Black Caps vs Sri Lanka:

                                    Sri Lanka:
1 Pathum Nissanka, 2 Avishka Fernando, 3 Kusal Mendis (wk), 4 Kamindu Mendis, 5 Charith Asalanka (capt.), 6 Janith Liyanage, 7 Chamindu Wickramasinghe, 8 Wanindu Hasaranga, 9 Maheesh Theekshana, 10 Eshan Malinga, 11 Asitha Fernando

                                    New Zealand:
1 Will Young, 2 Rachin Ravindra, 3 Mark Chapman, 4 Daryl Mitchell, 5 Tom Latham (wk), 6 Glenn Phillips, 7 Michael Bracewell, 8 Mitchell Santner (capt.), 9 Nathan Smith, 10 Matt Henry, Will O'Rourke

Sri Lanka choose to bat first

I hope they can put something decent on the board.

An evening watching our boys chase a big score would be quite appealing.

That is an extremely strong batting line up when you consider Matt Henry would bat 8 for lots of teams.

Seems the size of crowd perfectly suited to a 10k cricket oval.

@KiwiMurph I am not sure why the played the ODI in Wellington at the Basin, but I am glad they did. Much better atmosphere when the ground is packed.
