Yeah watched the Taipans get their beans!

Tough game given the Phoenix are largely the same core and the Snakes have a brand. RW starting lineup.

Jack McVeigh is a class above in terms of what he can do offensively. The point guard, Smith is a good player. Wardenburg wasn’t playing and they missed his rebounding and pick and pop.

huge 2nd half from the Lions. We jumped out of the gates and probably should have led by more at the first break. 2nd quarter we were terrible, Dane Zorko gifted them goals, the umps screwed us over, and it looked really really bad.
But the 2nd half was incredible from us, we jumped out of the gates again, wiped out their lead and never looked back. a 5 goal win at the 'G is pretty special.

And so a third straight GF. Can't say i am confident given what Geelong has produced so far in the finals, but we're at least there. Was saying to my kids that they should cherish how good this team is, as they have no memory of the dark years before Papa Fages rebuilt us. 5 win seasons. Spoons. Draft picks leaving as soon as they could. It was pretty shit. And the best thing is we are loaded with really young elite talent, our next rebuild is years off.

A word on the commentators from Saturday, not even trying to hide their bias. Celebrating everything Collingwood did, sucking Nick Daicos off, and then just absolute crickets as we got on top of them. The end of the game sounded like a funeral not a celebration of a great win. And then they all absolutely embarrassed themselves in the post match over one free kick. fuck off flogs, suffer in your jocks.

Prelim finals often produce the best games and Saturday night was no different. It ebbed and flowed and the Lions needed to produce something out of the bag in the final quarter to get a massive against the odds win on the G against the team that “never loses” but is always has an excuse.

Watching a video of Cameron kicking his goal and then the Magpie fans giving him the middle finger and then minutes later said fan’s leaving the G early. Priceless.

    Geelong can’t win.

Collingwood fans have NOT had a good couple of days.

And they're taking it about as well as you would expect.

It was quite the count. A worthy winner. Rowell’s not a flashy player but someone that gets a lot of inside mid ball.

Funniest part of the night was the crowd reaction to Wanganeen-Milera getting 2 votes in the Dees game. Not only were his stats off the chart, but he won us the game.

Funniest was even the Dee's players in disbelief.

    34 and 4 including 2 in 9 seconds. 2 votes.

For those of you who are pissed off at the AFL for not moving their club final to avoid the Bledisloe to maybe help bump their tv audience Brisbane won in a second half blow out.

    @mariner4life will be pleased.

Too good Brissy. They turned up the speed and the Cats couldn’t hang.

The AFL set their year up so fucking well, the GF was what, 10 days ago, and yet they are still dominating the sporting media through the trade period.

A trade period i might add, that Brisbane are fucking owning. Really sad to see Starcevich definitely go, Ah Chee probably go, and the retirement of Big O, but on the flip side. Oscar Allen in to re-tool and upgrade the forward line. Draper in to give us a ruck back. Enough draft capital to get the next big academy prospect in as well (from what i understand the last highly rated one for a couple of years).

Plenty of other movements, but most importantly lots of rumoured movements providing engagement everywhere. bigget one is Zac Merrett to the Hawks obviously. Skipper of one big Melbourne club to another big Melbourne club? delicious for the media.

Suns are all in as well, Petracca is a huge get for them, maybe Curnow as well.

And guess what, after trade period we roll straight in to the Draft. It never ends in AFL world

Late i know, but a post on teh GF.

As i said, managed to avoid all knowledge despite a surprising amount of people at the rugby and on trains who cared. Watched the game with kiwis who had no idea what was happening (why is it called a behind not a beside was my personal favourite) who also got to see live in action the M4L boys yelling at the TV for a game they actually care about.

Incredible first half. Geelong were getting kissed on the dick from the Umps, neither side could kick, but it was as tight as you could possibly imagine. Noticable things to me were Starc putting Danger in his pocket and not letting him out, and up front Charlie Cameron realising he can contribute without kicking goals, his forward 50 pressure was as good as i have ever seen it. We looked good but it was so tight. That said, if Bails kicks straight we are off to the races.

Second half we activate the sub and in strides Lachie Neale, no one knowing if he was fit. Turns out he was very fucking fit. Brisbane took control. Our midfield absolutely smashed theirs. Cam Rayner, who realised he was wasn't getting near it, decided he could impact it by leveling any Cat that got near the ball. Bailey Smith probably still has sore ribs. From late in teh 3rd right up to when we had already cracked beers late in the 4th we slammed on goals for fun. Absolutely belted them, and i was deliriously happy.

I honestly thought Neale could have won the Norm in a half. He had what? 17 touches and a huge goal. Absolutely owned the clearances. Bails kicks straight he could have won it as well. And Harris Andrews shut down everything Geelong tried. But Washcroft is a hell of a player, 21 years old, two flags and two Norm Smiths.

What a team, what a finals campaign. Destroyed in our semi, I am pretty sure i predicted the Suns to roll us. We flogged them. Flogged the Pies at the G, and then flogged the Cats.
And it will roll on. 6 guys in the best 22 under 22. Picked up two key free agents. A host of best-22 players to come back from injury.
If it wasn't for Papa Fages everyone else would hate us like St Kilda hate us.

Harder to pick than a broken nose this year. So you probably should default to the teams that do it year after year - Geelong, Sydney, Brisbane, GWS.

The rest can fight among themselves but you'd struggle to see any of those four missing the eight. The only chance is Sydney having the classic losing GF hangover, a few injuries and just never get going. But like Geelong success is just baked into the walls there so I find that hard to foresee.

My one aged pretty well too!
