If valetini plays even 70 minutes wallabies win.

    Wallabies defence is appallingly bad.

Poor coaching by Schmidt to have taken off the only two forwards providing front foot ball - the loss of Valentini and Skelton was immense.

Only needed five more minutes from them too.

Sualilii defending on the outside as poorly as every other NRL convert who’s attempted to play in the midfield

Don’t know why Valentini went off but Skelton was absolutely buggered.

On attack, they need to get the ball in his hands a lot more.

Aussies couldn't solve the Lions rush D. Forwards weren't bending the line in the final 20. BB would have had a field day with his chip kicks....

I thought Ikitau was uncharacteristically poor in the tackle as well, some really soft misses. Shame they couldn't get it done but it's always going to be hard if your midfield defence is a sieve.

Here's the Upset Aussie Fan in me:

Fuck me dead, how do you not find a penalty for the attacking side flying into that ruck with no desire or attempt to keep their feet whatsoever? Are we just throwing player safety out the window now? Not a fucking chance in hell Morgan was looking to do anything but seal off and take out the jackal while he was at it.

Fuck me dead, how did Genge win penalties at scrum time with his elbow pointing toward the ground? Open your fucking eyes ref - he couldn't win legally so he just fucking dropped it and you chickened the fuck out.

Where's the fucking medical staff looking at Conan after he could barely get back to his fucking feet early in the game? Do your fucking jobs, you fluffybunnies.

I had the commentary turned off but to me it looked like Morgan made no attempt to stay on his feet, had his head below his hips, and connected with the back of the Wallabies neck. So for those who are saying it's not a penalty take me through it.

Here's the realistic Aussie Fan in me:

We gave up absolutely pissweak metres every time we were on defence. It was embarrassing that a Test side could not defend channels 2 & 3 after weeks together in camp.

Sua'ali'i is just terrible defending at 13. Retreated into no-man's land rather than make a decision and at least smack a fluffybunny.

We're so passive in defence in general. I don't know what the pattern is - up-n-in or up-n-out because it just looks like back-back-back.

We lived off some flashy back play and Skelton and Valetini monstering blokes all through the first half. I suspect Valetini tweaked his calf. Gleeson was good value when he came on but we weren't getting enough quick ball to let him ride.

The ref cleaned up the offside line that BOK let waver, but didn't do as much about bodies in the ruck as I would have liked, and once our ball got slow, that was that.

Yes it's an improved performance, but it is built on a couple of players, not a good team structure.

                              The Lions were so bad

And yet the The wallabies were so much worse

If we don't destroy this team then we're going nowhere

My take is no player arrives at rucks with the intent of staying on their feet anymore, so deciding to change the interpretation you've gone all series with on the basis of a hollywood is unreasonable.

I'm also 100% certain the bleating would be the complete opposite if the jerseys were swapped.

On the balance it's nowhere near as egregious as the Genge scrumming penalty.

A vastly improved Aussie effort, but the Lions got the win and deserved it. No point whinging about it.

                                      Be better next time.
