Concerning that Love made no impression on the chase on JM whos not exactly a spring chicken
Concerning is going a bit far. McNicholl showed in Super Rugby he still has genuine wheels
-
Christie has shaded Lakai which also a concern given the latter is highly rated

Wellington aren’t going to do much this year with JGB, Savea and Proctor in the midfield. Definitely showing they have too many runs in the legs.
Really missing the zip from last year. Harkin has to start going forward. The fact he’s not on the field yet is baffling.
-
@Canes4life how do you start JGB ahead of Harkin ? Beggars belief

Harkin got shafted last year as well. He starts for the Canes. He should be starting for Welly easily.

It's completing the triangle of ridiculous 10 decisions this year - each player has separately been involved in the other two decisions
Garden Bachop over Pellegrini for Moana Pasifika
Cameron over Love/Harkin axis for Canes
Garden Bachop over Harkin for Wellington
-
Canterbury defence was the key factor for me
Lions had more than enough ball to pressure Canterbury
Tom Christie the outstanding player on the paddock lost count on how many tackles he made 3 turnovers to throw in as well
3rd upset in 3 games
Npc continuing to deliver -

Garden-Bachop is a smart player but he’s just too damn slow and has no counter attack. He’ll likely remain at 10 though as Harkin will likely play 15 when Love drops back out.

Just put Harkin at 10 and chuck Clarke at 15

Well played Canterbury. Too strong today.

Ropeti looks about 16 years old. Look handy with ball in hand. Didn't notice his work on defence, but I wasn't looking out for it.
-
@Crazy-Horse Runs great lines for smallish loosefoward ,thought he was the Lions most effective forward.

Is he small? He’s bigger than you probably think he is. Didn’t he play lock a few times last year for the Lions? He’s got a massive head, which probably makes his body look small in comparison.

I’m hoping Porirua park isn’t permanently in the long term plans for the Lions. They don’t seem to get many people turn up. Would love them to bring a few games back to the Hutt.
-
Watching Love fail to catch McNicholl, how slow was he before he did all this specialist sprint work?

Love has never been express. He’s got great acceleration at the line. That’s why I’d rather him focus on 10 moving forward.
McNicholl showed for the Saders this year that he hasn’t lost much speed.

I think the problem of taking these games to small stadiums, it kind of stuffs up having season memberships. etc, That's perhaps why they won't take the games out to Hutt,. I do think is they going to stay at Porirua, they need to contemplate a scaffold stand type arrangement.

Lakai’s ceiling is much higher.

Lakai was also just coming off a knee injury and hasn’t exactly played for about 6 weeks. Wasn’t expecting him to set the world on fire in his first game back. He was solid on defence but had a few poor touches on attack, we know he can be much better than that.
Love was pretty disappointing today but showed some good solid touches in the second half. Seemed to be trying too hard.
