    It's that time again.

Scots looking well set for that standard 4th or maybe even 3rd finish as per usual. The shit the bed losses to the ABs and Argies have left us in no doubt where they lie in the pecking order.

    https://www.skysports.com/rugby-union/video/12505/13496681/gregor-townsend-positive-ahead-of-scotland-start-to-six-nations

Good squad. Best Scottish backline of the professional era by far. Some handy forwards. A tendency to switch off and cave under pressure though.

They SHOULD beat Italy and Wales ( although both these games are away ), the England game is a bit of a coin toss given its at Murrayfield and they lift like a Black Caps team playing India in India and they'll have the inevitable losses to Ireland and France. One of these will be "plucky" the other will be a hiding.

France or England to take the whole thing. Ireland looking in a bit of decline.

Huge Wooden Spoon game between Wales and Italy.

Damian Penaud and Gaël Fickou haven't been included in the list of 42 for the France national rugby union team's Six Nations Tournament.

Wow, that's huge especially Penaud. Doesn't seem like he's injured from a quick scan. Anyone know the reason - he's on 98 caps!

    Very good summary

Makes it seems like a foregone conclusion

If the past 3-4 6N are anything to go by it's going to exciting as all hell with more than a few upsets

As the only person who's even vaguely a Scots fan and in the absence of anyone else I felt it was my duty.

Yeah Six Nations is always exciting to follow, can you do a run down on Wales chances ? they would be thrilled if they managed to sneak a mid table finish surely ?

Remember that he was also the French captain in the two tests he played in NZ last year.

ah, the time of the year when i wonder if England are as good as I hope they can be, believe that anything is possible, remember my general pessimism about this coaching team and decide we're going to lose to France. This could be Scotland's year, it won't be, but its always nice to hear someone say it. Are Ireland a busted flush? I hope so, would be nice to see them drop down the table. France - no one ever knows, world beaters one minute, panel beaters the next. Italy to beat Wales and not celebrate like they've won the world cup, because, well, Wales. And Wales - will probably beat England.

Just to clear something up, that's Fickou on 98 caps. Penaud has 58 - and 40 tries. Not a bad strike rate.

Penaud was left out because his form has declined a bit and also because Attisogbe and Drean are absolute guns. Maybe it's also because Galthié did not want to weaken Bordeaux too much (Depoortere, Moefana, Bielle-Biarrey and Jalibert are in the squad) for the Top 14.

My guess would be that both the top 2 and the bottom two may well be the other way round.

Ah but you're standing on the northern hemisphere bit, he's looking from the southern bit.

Would think that could be good guess MN5, never sure about France until we see which team turns up really.
I really looking forward to the comp starting!

This in Stuff this morning (free access): https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/360929058/potential-strike-action-looms-over-six-nations-amid-turm
It references potential strike action by Wales players in the 6 Nations due to a proposal to reduce the 4 Welsh rugby clubs from 4 to 3.
