Ta$man are now the TAB's favourite to win the Mitre 10 Cup:

    1 Canterbury 3.30
    2 Wellington 6.50
    4 Ta$man 2.80
    5 North Harbour 21.00
    6 Auckland 3.20

    Ere Enari is back:

Halfback Ere Enari has recovered from his second broken leg in the space of two years, and will play his first Mitre 10 Cup game in more than a year.

Enari, who is contracted to the Crusaders next year, played 50 minutes for Canterbury B against a Wellington development side last week, and has been named on the bench.

I'm surprised a few more ABs haven't been released to play this round. The Poo are the biggest winners but players like JB and TTT could do with a game.

@bovidae Hansen doesn't want his house besieged by irate Counties and Wellington fans!

Will be interesting to see who gets released for the play-off games.

In my view, no-one should - unless they've played some threshold number of games. I don't think Hansen should get to influence who wins the title.

If ABs need some gametime they should organize some sort of game of three halves fixtures.

@chris-b It was purely coincidence that both players I listed are from the Naki, as they are two that haven't played in a while. Coltman would be another. If Wellington can't beat Taranaki they don't deserve to make the SFs. I'm not suggesting any ABs are involved beyond this week.

Waikato could find a place for DMac at fullback though. 😉

@taniwharugby I don't think so. @Stargazer is up with the official press releases.

@bovidae we could do with Goodhue, might plug some gaps in our defence for the probable rematch with Waikato.

@bovidae Haven't seen the release of other players than those 3 Turbos. Obviously, there's the return of Moody and Nepo Laulala from injury.

I'd expect a few more, but they seem to drip-feed the info. I'll have another look at the media releases to see if there are any updates.

@bovidae Some probably will be though (released next week).

There's quite a few who haven't played a lot of footy in recent times and several coming back from injury.

Yeah. It has been a bugbear of mine in the past when a team is suddenly bolstered in the finals by players who are playing two levels down. The NPC is a comp for learning and developing now. Very happy for players to slide back down to this level for a season or two and teach the youngsters but it is detrimental to the integrity of the comp if flooded with ABs for a game or two

Good news for Southland fans: lock Manaaki Selby-Rickit has re-signed with the Stags for 2 more years.

One of the best players, if not the best, in that Southland squad.

Good news for them. They were good today against a very good Manawatu team on paper and could easily have won if Lambourn didn't drop the ball and if their exit strategies were a bit better from kickoffs. I'm confident that the Stags will get back on track next year they've still been very competitive in a lot of games this year and will continue to get stronger.

@african-monkey the Stags were bloody unlucky today,I actually thought they were the better team for long periods, could not catch a break, the horrible bounce Tony Lamborn got summed their game up..it bounces away from both a Manawatu player and the onrushing Southland player only for Lamborn who was the next player to get a cruel bounce,
When your lucks not in,I guess it sums up their year..
