@OleOleOle said in Mitre 10 Cup - news, injuries etc:
@shark look for Patrick Osborne in a Red Yellow and black jersey this M10 Cop....
So it is him playing for Tech?
-
I'm disappointed that Waikato feels the need to go outside the province for players. Even without Reece, who probably would have been unavailable, there should be enough M10 Cup-quality wingers in club rugby.
Have you heard any other rumours about player losses/gains?
-
@Canes4life Do you mean this quote?
Short Passes also believes – but stands corrected – that each Premier team is allowed to field one Hurricanes-contracted Premier player in their match-day 22s on Saturdays who is also not contracted to Wellington. No problem that Chase Tiatia and Salesi Rayasi can play for their club of choice as they are clearly Wellington players, but could prop Jarred Adams have played for another another team not HOBM and the same team as the two backs? Who makes the decision which team he plays for? The player himself or the Hurricanes? Of course, in this instance, perhaps Adams is going to play for the Wellington Lions given that Xavier Numia and Fraser Armstrong are both out for the season.
Is Tiatia a Wellington player? Has he moved from the Steamers to Wellington?
And Fraser Armstrong, did he move from Manawatu to Wellington, too?
I haven't read anything about these signings. Do they have info that hasn't been announced yet, or are they just plain wrong?
@Stargazer Also Rayasi plays for Auckland..

His Mitre 10 Cup province is yet to be confirmed, too, with North Harbour having tabled an offer, Stuff understands, while Wellington Rugby wasn’t commenting but hasn’t given up hope of luring its former skipper back. Auckland are also said to have expressed interest..

@Chris I think "not being played" is not what you should be worried about. I don't think they'll cancel the comp. They may do what they've done with the Farah Palmer Cup: re-scheduling. And if they don't want the competition to end later than it's scheduled now (finals in the last weekend of November), they can always start with scratching the cross-over games.
Edit: instead of scratching games, they could also consider adding in some mid-week games, something that's not an option in the Farah Palmer Cup.

@Tim wow, a reporter has actually done some real research and spoken to someone north of Wellsford about Northland rugby, instead of shooting straight from the hip and assuming Northland will be in all sorts of financial trouble because thats the way it was 10 years ago.
Quite refreshing actually. -
