@crucial He's skipping both to play for the Mitsubishi Dynaboars during the NPC - though hopefully for him he's got an out-clause if selected for the ABs.

Hopefully Todd has the same clause

@machpants The somewhat strange thing about Todd's signing is that the news has come out while he's in the AB camp, but there's no talk of any exemption if he's selected for the ABs.

I'd say he's definitely going to Japan.

New signing Manawatu: Brad Tucker (lock)

Tucker played provincial rugby for Waikato in 2016 and Taranaki in 2017.

He is the brother of former Waikato and Chiefs lock James Tucker.

The brothers grew up in Christchurch going through St Bede’s College and the Canterbury age-grade rugby system.

This year he returned home to Canterbury where he has been playing with Christchurch in the club competition.

Then he got a call from the Turbos coaching staff who were looking for an experienced lock.

                Preseason:
                HT: Manawatu Evergreens 10 - 17 Hawke's Bay Saracens

Hawke's Bay tries (I think): Folau Fakatava, Hannon Brighouse, JJ Taulagi; con: Lincoln McClutchie
                Manawatu try: ????

I wonder who will be North Harbour's coach for 2019? Cam Mather might have a crack?

James Wilson (35), a former Brumbies (2003-2004, 8 caps)^, Highlanders (2007-2008, 18 caps)^ and Chiefs (2009, 1 cap)^ back is returning from Europe and will play for Southland again this season. He played for the Stags from 2003-2011 (65 caps).

I always like it when former players, when returning from overseas' stints, play for their province again before retiring.

^years and caps according to Wikipedia

I see that Toa Halafihi is back.

Taranaki v Poverty Bay and Whanganui Squad:

                                    Forwards: Jarred Proffit, Chris Gawler, Donald Maka, Bradley Slater, Scott Mellow, Reuben O'Neill, Asaeli Sorovaki, Kyle Stewart, Paulo Leleisiuao, Jarrad Hoeata, Kane Thompson, Leighton Price, Tupou Vaa'i, Jack Jordan, Mitchell Crosswell, Kaylum Boshier, Tom Florence, Adrian Wyrill, Toa Halafihi;

Jarrad Hoeata returning to Taranaki from N Harbour. His French stint is over, apparently.
One of the better U20's players, Tom Florence.
Warwick Lahmert, didn't he play for Wanganui last year?
Kini "should be playing for Hawke's Bay" Naholo. His brother Meli is not in the squad.
Liam Blyde, was very good for the Taranaki 7s team at the nationals.

@tim Wow 20-25 metre pass that is impressive..be interesting to see if he can throw the left to right pass which is the unnatural side, but that is amazing all the same, shows he has vision as well.
