at the last World Cup it was very un-Fiji like. Their set piece was not only rock solid, at times it was dominant. But they lost a bit of their creative spark, probably hampered by Volavola at 10, who was usually the worst player on the park.

But, it's not too far a stretch to say that in another pool they may very well have qualified for the quarters.

Yeah I reckon Volavola fucked them, and hard. Forwards were great. Just get the backs under Ryan and away they go!

That was a pretty good article really and good on the coach for changing the culture while keeping the players onside which wouldn't have been easy. Obviously it was strange reading a times article about Fiji with no snide references to poaching by us but as others have pointed out considering their passion for sevens they have bugger all to show for it on the world circuit.

The other thing he did was pick a squad for the WS of mainly local players, and he only drafted in 1 or 2 "stars", but he said he tried to stay loyal to his WS guys....

Just imagine what might of been if they had selected Hayne. The gold medal might've been even golder....

League fans are gonna be incredulous that blokes from "their game" got a) dropped and then b ) injured. Surely a NZ/Fiji final was inevitable cos they had league players in the teams.

At least his foray into sevens torpedoed his chances of representing Australia in rugby, and most likely Super Rugby.

Bit odd that Princess Ann didn't shake hands with the Fiji team - wife was telling me it's royal protocol but then she went on and shook hands with the South African team

You've NO idea how relieved I am at that. People here were calling for his inclusion at the Tahs, as a marquee, and saying third party deals were money well spent.
