Last time I checked he got 11 wickets in the series? Thats almost the same as Zimbabwe combined.. I guess its all relative..

But yes, Taylor looked very impressive. He made Kane look like the 2nd best batsman in the team..

Yeah, they said on the broadcast that it was between Kane and Taylor but Kane's captaincy was the tie breaker. Was fair enough.

Job done boys, second tier team put in their place and a few averages improved along the way.

Anything less than 2-0 would have been a disappointment so in that regard the majority of the team did the job with aplomb.

There's a lot of excitement over KW and Taylor, rightly so but the fact is there are two others averaging over 40 in the team, a guy ( Guptill ) who is a better player than his record suggests ( I can only echo the sentiments of those who want him batting lower ) and a pretty handy pace attack. We also have a couple of spinners considerably better than the cellar dwelling efforts of Mark Craig. Is this enough to match SA in their own backyard ? I dunno but I cant wait to find out.

Their batting isn't great, but they have a better attack, plus we are hugely reliant on 2 batsmen, in SA v the SA attack Guppy & Nicolls could easily be walking wickets & our tail has zero resistance, Henry at 8, Southee 9 I guess? Against the SA quicks Southee will already be taking guard out by the square leg ump. And then stepping back to swing. Feels like us scoring 300 any innings depends on Kane or Ross hitting 100 & the rest hanging in there with Latham & Watling grinding out 40's, otherwise its 200 all out.

But on the plus side unless Amla gets 200 I'm not sure they'll be sticking 450+ on us.

I'm actually looking forward to it for the first time in a long time, SA's batting is so average it could be a great series of 300 v 300 v 275 v 250 each test

    Don't forget:

"De Villiers, Morkel ruled out of NZ Tests"

which evens up the playing field a bit. SA obviously favourites but we are in with a chance. Well I'd at least expect us to go better then last time....

Yeah, no DeVillers hit their batting a lot, the rest bar Amla are a bit me'h, Morkel is great, but they still have quality there. I really rate Rabada, he started well then got a county contract & actually had some great spells. Very brisk.

they've still got to be pretty hot favourites at home. god i would love it if we beat them though.

at the very least it had better go a long way towards erasing the humiliation of last time around, hesson would be pretty keen on that i'm sure.
