Fuck drinking at games, or concerts, or anything like that. I'll have to go to the pisser all the time and end up missing good chunks of what I paid to see and pissing off those seated near me when I am up and down all the time.

The commentators have mentioned Blundell playing again, so I am guessing Latham forgot about him.

I am confused. Latham said one change from the last test, Patel for Tickner. Yet TV just listed Blundel playing, that would mean two changes wouldn't it?

    Wales have approached Tahlor Cahill.

Interesting this has three upvotes already. I hate this sort of thing, no matter who does the chasing. Grandparent is a pretty weak link. Unless of course it's been Cahill's life long dream to play for Wales, then good for him.

I'm not fussed about a character reference given by an All Black.

I am fussed that the process sees a place where a character reference is appropriate to determine a ban in a sporting contest.

On one hand punters scream about how amateur world rugby is and how badly it is run, but when a fair trial is used to determine the outcome of an alleged crime, the same punters squeal that character references shouldn't be given in support of a persons character. So which is it then? Should it be the good old boy process where its all based on what the citing/banning commision feels, or a professional process where evidence, character reference and an impartial jury/judge decides the fate?

In any event, the punishment seems fair.

Yeah, character references are used all time at sentencing in the real world, don’t know why rugby should be different, especially now it's a pro game.

He's played 140 tests, and countless games at lower levels, all very public.
Is that not a bit different from a random member of the public who nobody involved in sentencing has ever heard of before?

I guess if they are debating whether an act was intentional a character reference would have some benefit. I don't see it as being all that different.

"A sexualised slur directed towards minors"

An old Christchurch joke (1940's is the earliest reference), but probably not a good thing to say on the telly.

Obviously wasn't the thing to say on the telly, especially in today's environment. I just don't think it's newsworthy. The coverage in the news probably exposed it to a wider audience. Now we all know what it means.

On a side note I am disappointed, but not surprised, Stevenson is in trouble for calling the Chirst College guys 'syrup suckers'. It was just a bit of banter and sadly as usual nowadays there seems to be people lining up to be offended on behalf of others. So much for sticks and stones.

A chasing player 'attempting' to catch a high ball with one hand is not making a genuine attempt to catch the ball, and this is a deliberate knock-on.

Unless we get good at it, then leave it as is.

That will be when they change it.

Don't really get the whinging, chances are we still have to beat SA in the final anyway if we end up on the other side, plus beat a team equal to or not far off France (who aren't exactly our bogey team at WCs).

Just fucking get on with it and earn it.

I totally get the whinging, because if we do get through to the final I will be a fucking nervous wreck having to sit through three tough games in a row. Not sure I have the energy.

Its good times. Loved it in 23

Maybe I am weird, but I don't actually enjoy it at the time.

When Foulkes first came on the first class scene McMillan was saying he reckoned he was a better batter than bowler.

It goes without saying that Scott Robertson's treatment of Hoskins Sotutu has been appalling

The leaking of Sotutu’s non selection in multiple places less than 2 hours before the 2024 SR final was really shitty. Some real low quality people in and near the AB management

Trying to cause disharmony in the Blues camp before a big game.

I actually don't remember this funnily enough.

Or maybe they hoped the news might give the Blues (and certain players) inspiration to put in a 'fuck you' performance, which they sort of did.

Not sure the logic of that stands up.

As logical as trying to cause disharmony in the Blues camp before the final I would have thought.

It was most likely some twat wanted to be the first to spread the news and not giving two shits about the timing.

Nah man there's absolutely no logic that they would want a player they are snubbing to have a fuck you performance. Not like they can then reverse their decision and say I told you so.

It all depends on who knew the squad at the time it was leaked. If it was just the tight coaches group them, yep, it doesn't make sense. But if more people than them knew the squad, or at least had some hints around it, then the leak could have come from anywhere and the motivation could be anything.

The leak could also have been a lucky guess. I don't recall the leak, but was it the entire squad or was it just that a certain couple of players didn't make it?

    @Mr-Fish I grant you that.

But for ‘voluntary’ penalties I’d rather ref’s kept it in their pants.

Perhaps more assertiveness along the way would help? If I were a ref I might say to the captain that the crowd didn’t come along to see me giving out cards so for God’s sake tell your players to cut the crap.

Perhaps I’m just still riled from the ludicrousness of the Codie yellow!

Teams tend to give away 'voluntary' penalties because they don't want to concede a try. As an alternative to the yellow card, how about we do something left field like award 7 point penalties for a period of time. Maybe as a one off or for 10 minutes? Anything is better than cards.

@Chris might be able to answer this, but how does Foulkes go in the longer version? I didn't realise he was in the frame. Does he have the stamina to be the stock bowler? Does he still get swing with the older ball? Does he keep his pace or does he drop down to early 120's?
