Need to find a winger with top end pace to complement Clarke. Reece has played his last test match and not sure if we can persist with Talea who isn't fast either. Naholo might be the answer if he can stay injury free.

    He’s playing 13.

Problem I have with Razor is many of his selections and tactics seemed like he was just trying not to lose, meanwhile we lost a lot of games we could have won anyway so that experience did not help us. Let’s be real he should have been working on replacements for Reiko , ALB, Reece, Beaudie for months.

I agree that he's shown too much favour to some guys who either aren't up to it or won't make the next Cup. Maybe he wanted a transition year. Well he's had that now, time to move a bunch of guys out and run the rule over their potential replacements

@canefan he has chosen evolution over revolution.

ABs rugby is built on winning the next game, and the incumbent player keeping their place if they perform. Those waiting in the wings have to take their chance. You can see that some have taken their chances.

The ABs isn’t a finishing school.

I can see less time for some players next year who have failed to fire this year. Reece and ALB will struggle next year if others step up their game. BB will struggle to make the 23, but he is well thought of by management for his professionalism, which management want to embed into the squad from noises made.

Not convinced the JB/Ioane combo is good enough offensively. Defensively I would say they are strong. I think there is a decision to be made with 12/13 depending how the ABs want to attack.

There are very positive signs. Coupled with some fresh new players coming through and some bolters (which always happens when you least expect it), I think the ABs might just be ok 😉

          I'd try out 2 midfields:
          JB Proctor
          Lam Ioane

Well apparently you can't lose your position to injury (so BS imo) so I guess we get to see Ethan Blackadder back in 2029 for two tests.

Reece was fine for me. Yes he got run over by a faster wing but he had other attributes. Made good yardage at rucks. I like Emoni Narawa for all his skills.

his workrate is good but he's not a weapon at wing. Could have tried his hand at 12 perhaps but too late now.

I can also kick or pass the ball to no one, get hammered in a tackle and gift the ball to the opposition so add me to that list.

OK, you’ll be a sort of “between emergency cover” based on that

Thought it was a good effort from AB's today, but match was a hard watch. Didnt have enough attacking spark until we got behind in second half.
Was disappointed Cam taken off so early and DMac not starting. Still don't think we have the best backline combo playing with Rieko at 13 and Jordan at 15. Just not creative and slick enough for me.
Liked how we attacked in the lineouts and how Williams went all round.

We're amazing at attacking everywhere from the field, until we get to 10 metres out from the tryline.
Seem to be able to get to the opposition tryline with EASE which has been the massive improvement for us since the Foster era.

But once we get there we seem to NEVER be able to convert possession there into a Try.

We should have been up by 20 in the first half (I still believe with Dmac we would have been so am still fuming about that selection decision..).

Robertson needs to work on that during the off season to get this team humming.

For the whole 'why take 3' argument

The only try we constructed was Lakai's in the first 10 minutes (Roigard's was a piece of individual brilliance)

@booboo they obviously like him, but I don’t expect to see EB back in black until he earns the chance again, or injuries afford him a chance.

12: Jordie, Lam, or Proctor I'd have before DH. Jordie is more of a weapon at 15 and can be (emergency level) back up at 10-I don't see DH's utility value.

….and if there’s an emergency after that emergency Havili can step in at 10 as well.

                                David should be stood down...

The only try we constructed was Lakai's in the first 10 minutes (Roigard's was a piece of individual brilliance)

And the killer French try was Vai'i triying to be too clever, hold that ball and we win

Harsh take, it was a regulation offload to a fullback in acres of space and he got his arm whacked just as he was releasing it.
We had offloaded all day to good effect, I'm not whacking for it no matter how bad the result.

That whack of the arm was probably a 14 point play.

The game seemed to meander a bit.

Disappointing to lose that one - a bit of coulda, woulda, shoulda.

For a while, in the first half it looked like the floodgates were on the verge of opening. Unfortunately, a bit of a momentum shift and the French got on top a bit in the third quarter and we never quite headed them.

I thought too that we should and would kick that last penalty into the corner - didn't think there was enough time left on the clock to ensure we'd get another chance to win it. I wonder if taking that shot was a bit of a hangover from last week, where repeatedly taking the three led us to winning comfortably?

Rugby has definitely changed in terms of the value of taking the three. While nominally it's worth three points - it's actually worth three points minus the 50+ metres you automatically give the other team. So it's quite a low value return. And with two evenly matched teams, kicking off is almost like serving in tennis - if the receiver can get out of their territory and regain possession it's like breaking serve. But, more often the "server"is going to get points down the other end. And if they get seven then it's a poor exchange.

I guess that I usually (though not always) prefer the opposition to take the three is a warning that you should be thinking hard about when you do so.
