Was Damian McKenzie really the worlds best first 5 this year.

I would have Albornoz and M Smith (despite his apparent tackling inability) ahead of him

@Bones I agree with that, apart from the 'once respected honour', it's always been a bit bullshit and based off the last few games (esp RWC years)

I’ll try. He was sensational in the Olympics 7s final almost single handedly winning it for France. Along with their swimmer, he was the face of the Olympics.

Really don’t think it’s a major shock tbh.

Yeah but you’ve always been biased against the Scots.

You’d sneak a few Welshmen in ahead of them if you had a chance 😉

Team of the year is an interesting one. I think narratives take hold more than objective performance.

Lots of rotation, some countries being so poor, it would be hard to put one single player in. In the 6N Ireland hammered France, who then phoned in their tour while Dupont stayed in Paris. And then Ireland won a test in SA. If anything, not enough Boks. They’re that far ahead.

Guess 10 was D-Mac vs Finn.

Whatever criticisms there are of Jordan, he has lit it up the highlight reel and would probably start for anyone.

Sititi could have gone in ahead of Matera, he’s been that good.

    Don’t mind it too much.

Could have done with another South African….

….and the one I’m thinking of plays on the wing for Scotland

Reckon Woodman would struggle to break into any French MEN'S team.

yeah. Cant stand dupont. He blamed the france loss last year on the ref. "This ref isn't good enough at this level' or words to that effect. BOK was the ref. A good one

I don't know, the French are pretty flexible about what they consider to be French.

@MN5 surprised at France. At least the likes of Christie/Sititi were kiwi kids.

I reckon the Scots should do some serious recruiting, cast off any less than perfect homegrown deadwood and go for 100% by the EOYT next year.

As a tier two nation they could make a play for Christie.

It's all a bit bullshit for England, Scotland, and Wales as a lot of those players aren't foreign born, just different region of the same country

Good choices for AB of the year. Cant really argue with the super choices either, which really highlights the discussion in the other thread.

Anyway, I thought this is cool, nice by PSDT’s dad:
