@Stockcar86 I'm in the Hawkes bay at the moment but not a big Facebook user

You sound surprised?
Suitably impressed that it segued so nicely to pies and beer really.
I was going to mention the lack of chicks being slightly disappointing, but I probably just didn't wait long enough.

How long has Shaneos been on that spot?
Also, do they have meatballs like the previous bakery in that spot did?
-
@Stockcar86 said in Help with a travel itinerary to NZ:
@Nepia Every bakery worth anything in Napier or Hastings has meatballs. They are pretty good from there too
That should be true, but sadly on trips back I have found some that don't have them.
Can you remember what the bakery here used to be called? It's annoying me now.

Sorry. my brain is mush, so can't recall. Here is a closeup of those meatballs... mmmmmmm

Just thought I would throw this out there and hope to hear suggestions.
Wife and I decided we don't need to go to Aussie for a couple of years, and may just do NZ holidays .
So at end of April we heading south, booked to fly to Christchurch, have a day there at this stage, then do the Tranzalpine railway trip. We then pick up a rental car, and have at this stage booked a night in Greymouth, then 3 nights Hokitika. Kind of hoping for suggestions what to look at etc, perhaps a few walks (remembering I an old bugger, so not too hard).
After that we will have about 3 days until we fly back out of Chch, so am thinking stopping Arthurs Pass, and maybe Castle Hill, but keen to hear ani ideas etc. -

Why not do 2 nights in Hokitika, drive up to Westport via the Punakaiki Rocks, stay a night there if you want then head up to Denniston for a look around, through Lewis Pass later that day, taking your time as needed then a night or two in Hanmer?
You've already seen Arthur's Pass in the TranzAlpine, so it feels like a double up to drive back through there if you have time.
