Perofeta is a great example of where selection has gone wrong in recent year. Pick a bloke, give him 5 minutes at the fag-end of a Test and judge him on that.

Listening to Kiwilads commentary of the Blues Crusaders game and heard there was talk of James Occonnor possibly switching allegiances to the All Blacks. Not sure how serious the rumour was, he would have to sit out this year's Lions tour.

The move has been disappointing. I suspect his spot in the ABs is safe for this season. There is nobody else screaming pick me.
As for the future, I reckon Wrampling is one to watch. If he can overcome his injuries he looks like he has all the tools.

Wrampling is a gun but he's probably going to continue struggle for minutes with ALB, Tupaea and Rona all ahead of him in the pecking order in the midfield (and Mataele bizarrely selected ahead of him on the wing earlier in the season).

We can't simply wish up the players of the level we desire, though. We have to select the best ones and stick with developing the ones with potential (think Nonu).
We haven't done that for quite some time. Where would Sititi and Va'ii be if it weren't for forced injury selections?
