Little-known actress Rooney Mara has landed the lead role in the remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.<br />
Mara, 25, will play Lisbeth Salander, an investigator with a troubled childhood, in the English language version of the crime thriller.<br />
<br />
She will star opposite James Bond actor Daniel Craig, who plays a journalist who teams up with Salander to investigate a disappearance. <br />
<br />
The film is based on the first book in Stieg Larsson's best-selling series. Larsson died in 2004, a year before the first of his Millennium trilogy crime novels was published. The Swedish version of the film was released last year.<br />
<br />
Mara's biggest role so far was a part in this year's re-make of A Nightmare on Elm Street. She has also appeared on TV shows ER and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. The announcement that Mara will play Salander follows months of speculation over who would land the coveted role, with big names such as Natalie Portman, Carey Mulligan and Scarlet Johansson reportedly in the frame. <br />

The film begins shooting next month in Sweden and is due out in December next year.<br />

David Fincher will direct the new version, while Steve Zaillian is writing the screenplay. -
Fincher certainly isnt one of those busy types, without bothering to look him up what has he done recently?

I did look him up, The Curious Case of Ben Button was the last one and he has the Social Network about to come out which will get a lot of press. He has ten (yes ten!) projects in development, which is incredible. -

For him thats a huge work load, if you look (yep i did this time!) he normally has a few years off.<br />
Like Panic Room in 2002 before he did Zodiac in 2007.(and before that it was Fight Club in 1999)<br />

Some of those projects look interesting, cant check them out of course as im not subscribed to IMDB Pro! -
Salt - pretty good, slick action/thriller in the Bourne vein.<br />

Saw this last night. Slick & polished. Unoriginal. Poor plot. Enjoyable. 5/10 -
Saw "The Other Guys" last night. Enjoyed it, although a DVD rental probably better than paying the cinema price. 6.5/10. I'm not a huge Will Ferrell fan, but thought this was probably his most restrained and best performance on film. <br />

Re: Steven Seagal, he's spent most of the past decade producing/financing/starring-in his own direct-to-dvd movies, about three-per-year, all cheapies, basically farting in a bag and putting his name over the title, that sell off the Wal-Mart racks and have probably made him a good amount of coin. -

Seemed too contrived and just over 90 mins too short.<br />

Pineapple Express: Hilarious. Up there with Super Bad. <br />
Jack and Miri make a porno: Starts off well but goes to shit after that. Very disappointing.<br />
The Wrestler: Terrific film. A travesty Rourke didnt win an Oscar. -
Watched Richard Linklater's [B]"Me & Orson Welles"[/B] last night. Just came out on DVD after several delays from earlier release dates. A very, very good film elevated by Christian McKay's brilliant portrayal of Orson Welles. I've never heard or seen this actor before, but he seemed possessed by the spirit of Orson, and did a great job showing how Welles could be a genius, blowhard, narcissist, insecure arsehole and brilliant creative manipulator. 8.5/10<br />

Also watched the new documentary film [B]"Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage,"[/B] about the most successful Canadian rock group ever, and arguably the biggest cult band in rock history. I'm not a huge Rush fan, 'tho have seen 'em several times over the past 30 years, yet was pleasantly surprised how enthralling - and funny - the doc was, with a good selection of musicians (Trent Reznor, Billy Corgan, Gene Simmons, Les Claypool, Kirk Hammett, Jack Black, etc.) talking earnestly about what the band meant to their lives and how they found success on their own terms. My fave part was the where-the-hell-did-they-get-this? film footage of a bullheaded Alex Lifeson as a 17-year-old at the dinner-table telling his disappointed parents that he was quitting high school to become a rock guitarist. South Park creator Matt Stone gave what I thought was one of the the doc's best quotes:<br />

After watching this, it's hard to disagree. 9/10. -
Saw 'My Name is Khan', about some Indian bloke with Autism in the states trying to get to the president to tell him that he is 'not a terrorist'<br />
Biggest piece of crap film I have seen in years, good for about 30 mins before it got so bad myself and my flatmates were in hysterics laughing at the absurd plot twists, grand canyon sized plot holes, racist stereotypical casting and acting. I firmly believe this was written by an local lad living in India who not only has never left his country but probably also his small village and his entire knowledge of the outside world is based on rented movies and maybe a dodgy cable news channel.<br />
An easy 0/10 and the only reason I'm rating it not in the negatives is because once you've realised and accepted you've just wasted a couple of hours of your life watching this steaming dog-turd you will actually laugh out loud at how crap it is.<br />

What I don't understand, and this is what really bugs the crap out of me is that reviews are actually pretty good for the film and its also the highest grossing Bollywood film overseas. Could reviewers actually be bought to give this good reviews or am I really missing something here
