@george33 george you have some good sources, is there any particular reason why Caleb cannot stomach seeing out the 2nd half of his contract in Dunedin?
-
@Grooter he's a Auckland boy, and basically wants to come home, he's a Blues man deep down, family big to obviously, be a main stay in Auckland NPC this season, unless and hopefully AB selection gets him.
@george33 you can see how none of that actually gets you out of a contract canât you?âŚso it goes back to my question

@Kiwiwomble contract, he most likely had a lot of options in it when he signed for this season, Blues aren't stupid they were never going to let him walk away, for more than 1 year, the time has been put into him since he was 18, game time massive for him, Talea moving, and that was always on the cards, after not signing on last season.

@george33 sound explanation George
he's a real talent and should be in the ABs frame this year, Landers will want to keep him for the remainder of his contract tho... he will look great on billboards with de groot and Holland when promoting the landers 26 campaign -

@SouthernMann respect all your comments , but Clarke, Talea in front, and remember none of those boys at this stage are re-signed beyond this season, but have heard both will, just need the pen on the paper.

Why did Telea forget to put the pen on the paper George?

That doesnât actually answer my question thoughâŚand raises another
2 year contract with highlanders yes/no?
If no, are you saying he has an existing contract with the blues including some sort of sabbatical? If no then what do you mean by the blues wonât let him walk away? Explain the situation where an organisation has any control without a contract
Also, if no 2 year deal with the highlanders, why did he say he signed one?
-
All the contracts are centralised through NZ rugby. Both NZ rugby and specific Super Rugby club are parties to the contract. To cancel that arrangement, you have to cancel your entire contract with NZ rugby, not just the super rugby squad.
There are not provisions like there are in the NPC contract that make it easy for players to move around the country. It is specifically set up, youâd assume, to stop players doing exactly what you describe.
They are not going to draft a contract for a 4-5 cap, unknown, essentially fringe member of the blues squad, to allow him to move between clubs with ease.
If he was try and jump ship and not honour his contract, the Highlanders would have more than reasonable grounds to pursue him, the blues, and Nz rugby if it was allowed. What youâre describing just wonât happen
-
On a brighter note seems Howden & Dunshea are back in training, but looked like Filimone and Bell were with the starters which would mean no Tangitau or VikenaâŚ
-
@frugby Vikena has the purple strip on in 1 of the photos too, yeah think the man of the hour tangitau still isn't quite right. Unfortunately Lowe is wearing the purple kit which usually indicates he's in the 23?

Yes just seen photo with Vikena. Definitely looks like Bell at the back of the maul, so Vikena obviously on the bench. No Nareki in any of those photos, and he seemed to be struggling with his leg again, so that may be a clue.
-
The team is more than capable of executing the same game plan that the waratahs used in the weekend. Just have to execute when in the 22 and sort out the defensive positioning because the chiefs will rip them to shreds out wide if theyâre not onto it
-
Hell of a thread read that was. How can you say someone didnât sign a 2 year deal when the facts are right in front of youâŚ
In regards to some of the comments from George, a certain saying comes to mind. âThrow enough shit at a wall and eventually some of it will stickâ

@Landers92 phargggg that was painful...hard not to think ol Siaosi isn't taking the piss - just rarking up the Landers supporters....iin any case....it's not happening. Not next year anyway.

In other news, hearing Fakatava, Lennox and Pledger are being lined up as three halfbacks next year⌠considering Hastie is set to be left out for a second consecutive week it certainly makes sense sense.
Supposedly JJ rates neither Arscott or Hastie. For all his up-side, Hastie does remain a little slow to the breakdown.

@frugby a bit wild we're letting Hastie slip through the cracks. His box kicking has been impressive as has his offloading and sniping around the rucks. You'd have to feel he's the sort of guy who could at least make All Blacks XV in a season or two. I'd probably carry him over Lennox who I've yet to see do much at this level.
Sounds like JJ is planning on cutting some contracts short next season. Wonder if Michaels, Wingham, Falefaga and Hastie all get cut?
Here's a left field pick too - I wonder if Bell gets cut and Ioane Mounau from the crusaders gets picked up?
