They don't have to be under 85 for these games so some of them will be working hard when they get back home to get under 85 again. Talked to a couple of guys at the club last week who are playing in the grade. After weigh in everyone takes 10 min for a feed.

As far as I know the two Managers weigh the players no later than 10 minutes before the game.

Seems rather counter constructive to pack a feed in right before the game!

I think they try to weigh as early as they can.

The Coastal and Fraser-Tech game was played in Te Kuiti and was a good watch. But even if Central are doing something similar and playing in Taupo, there is serious traveling to be done by a couple of clubs.

@Bones The Dogs of War was the Poneke regular 80/80s (I'm old fashioned!) Saturday team before the start of the National Under 85s Champs. They have not been around for a few seasons now but not being in Wellington much nowadays I can't be 100% sure on that. I guess they were a bunch of mates that played together until they all got too old, apart from Jezza Hargreaves who still seems to be lacing the boots up!
Come to think of it Poneke had two 80/80s teams (as did my Axemen) and MSP had three in the halcyon days when the Wellington competition had three 80kg divisions and about 25 to 30 teams taking part.
