    What does it take for a player to finally get the recognition he deserves—raw talent, relentless consistency, or just the right coach watching at the right time? David Havili might be the All Blacks’ most underrated weapon, and it’s a veteran Wallaby, of all people, sounding the alarm.

    And he's a potential Wallaby too, a team that desperately wants to win back the Bledisloe. Of course we should trust the words of a bulked up Justin Bieber with an aussie twang.

    I do think Havili is underrated and with a game plan that accounted for his strengths, could be a good international player. If you're going to insist on using him as a battering ram then you're going to have a bad time.

    There’s two tests vs the Boks and Wallabies where I thought the patterns we ran suited his strengths - a wider channel and not as flat. He still carted ball up into traffic and actually made metres but it was when we spread a little wider that he was able to have more positive impact.

    I still think they will go for Jordie

    The elephant in the room is how much better Scooter has gone since handing over the captaincy

    With alb out , I can’t see how havilli misses out on squad selection considering he has had a good SR season and was already a razor favourite.

    @kiwiinmelb

    He played in 3 tests at the end of last year including the last test. He's basically a 23 incumbent.

    I'd still like to see what Lam could do.

    @nostrildamus especially if they are gonna run BB at 10, combinations are important

    @taniwharugby

    I think one of the reasons why the Blues struggled to get ascendancy last night is because BB failed to make use of Lam enough.

    I'm juatbsaying I think the coaches still see BB as an option, but maybe they will change the way they use Lam in black...not holding my breath, but that's my thinking...

    Beauden showed last night that the chip kicks form last week were just the usual 'every so often it comes off'. His kicking was rubbish. He did utilise a 3 on 2 for the try in the corner, but that's the sort of thing you'd congratulate a schoolboy 10 for, not a fucking all black.

    His pop gun kick game was glaringly obvious when you compared him to Sullivan and Reihana. He couldn't get the Blues out of danger consistently enough and the Crusaders took advantage

    Is there enough room for Lam? Without anymore injuries the midfield 4 will be Jordie Havili Rieko and Proctor

    Clarke Reece and Jordan are certainties out wide - Love will get the 10/15 role.

    I presume someone like a Carter will make it and/or a Narawa.

    Lam with his ability to cover midfield and wing should see himself in the squad but there's also big Jim, Fihaki (lol) etc.

    Personally i'd think about giving Clarke a bit of a rocket and leaving him out of the French series which would open up an extra spot to take a look at some of these other options.

    Clarke a very odd one - hasn’t scored a try in SR, wouldn’t be many starting wingers who have achieved that feat.

    Has he just not had much opportunity? Blues were poor early in the season. Ran hard and used EB as a judder bar last night

    @canefan I feel Clarke has been a bit sloppy most of the season, watching on and off the ball. Was much better last season. Maybe the issue is his connection with the midfielders?
