When the match kicks off, and the pitch lights ignite,
He stands at First Five, calm under the night.
With every sidestep, defenders fall light.
Love, Love will tear you apart… again. When passes get slick, and the pace starts to climb,
He reads every move like he’s bending time.
The backline sings sweet when he’s on the line.
Love, Love will tear you apart… again. Why is his vision so sharp and so clear?
He spins it both ways, no panic, no fear.
That left boot of his? A tactical spear.
Love, Love will tear you apart… again. He’s ghosting through gaps that no one can see,
From Welly to Black—pure rugby poetry.
The rivals all sigh, “How’d he break free?”
Love, Love will tear you apart… again.Ian curtis will be spinning in his grave

I'm going on record with the rest of the underwhelmed.
Not fussed. He's no Dan Carter, nor for that matter Mehrts or Spencer. Fuck, he's not even fucking Aaron Cruden.
Am not UNHAPPY to see him back, but I'm not doing backflips over a 30-something semi-decent 1st 5/8 who is rather indistinguishable from those currently available and hasn't played Tests for 3 years. Will he be better than the guys we have? Maybe, maybe not.
Indeed - we are talking about a marginal improvement over the two guys we currently have, not a game changer.

If i was DMac i would have my agent on the phone now and get the fuck out. Take that money Damo, and cheers for the Chiefs memories.
What are the odds Rivez Reihana follows suit a la Harry Plummer?

It would be odd for a super rugby rookie who was injured a majority of the season, who won a super rugby title, left because he wasn’t in the frame for the 2027 RWC? Delusions of grandeur if he thought Mounga signing for 2 years would do his career prospects in NZ any harm

He could consider moving franchises while RM is back in SR, so he doesn't waste his time riding the bench

You can't hurry Love
Oh fuck.. what have you started
Razor clearly has a different view on our beloved Ruben.
Love bites.
Who knows with Razor? Love is strange

Love, Love will tear you apart… again.I really appreciate the effort that’s gone into this post.
When he gets in consistently I reckon Love changes, changes everything.
( best I can do early in the morning )

You'd hope that NZR would have the smarts to ensure that happened, but you'd also hope the development path is kept open too.

Or he's snapped up by a French club, or does a JGP, Aki or Lowe....

Most half decent super rugby players get French offers. 5-6 highlanders got French offers to go to Montpellier start of last season. Any half decent young player with a half decent agent is contacted. It’s the same risk for all players

I'd like to see Love and Reihana get some game time at 10 for the ABs. Meaningful game time too. Not Plummer game time.
That said I think any time a NZ rugby player comes back to NZ to play in NZ for NZ teams is good. So Im happy Mo'unga is coming back and we will see if he's good enough for the ABs.

Razor says he's good enough
-
@brodean yep, which is why if Razor had done his bidding privately, rather than in the media, people probably would have seen this as the win it could be rather than Razor all but saying the guys we have ain't up to it.
-
I understand the calls for Love, but Reihana? He should be a long way off. I would rather see Jacomb if we really had to pick someone.

Good enough to sign for the future as an option.
Anything could happen between now and the EOYT 2026.
Injuries forced Sititi's selection last year against SA after a dud performance against the Puma's as a sub. He was instrumental in losing that game being penalised 3 times in a quarter. Now some people a calling him a generational player.

Jacomb looked way out of his league playing for the Barbarians team.

Didn't see that game to be honest.
Reihana was awful on the weekend at NPC level.
We are just clutching at straws anyway. Unfortunately none of the 'young' tens are showing much.
