Huge fight for both
-
Another great card with some top notch contests and excellent finishes
-
A close fight between RDR and RW. I agreed with two of the judges: 48-47 RDR
They were both a bit disappointing IMO. Whittaker looked classy in round 1 but never recovered after a chaotic round 2 where both fighters were hurt.
RDR needs to improve before he challenges the top 5. That puts some perspective on where Bo Nickal sits
The Nguyen v Yahya was nuts. It should've been stopped earlier. I can understand what Herzog was thinking, Yahya was immediately looking good after each knockdown.. but 6 knockdowns?
A bit of swelling under his eye

A bit gutted about this matchup. Really loving Reyes resurgence but I gotta back the kiwi
There's at least two more kiwis on that card
Stirling is fighting Rodolfo Bellato. We were talking about him a couple of months ago.. he's the fighter who had the strange 'no contest' fight when he had a delayed reaction to Paul Craigs up kick
There'll also be the debut of NZ first female UFC fighter Michelle Montague. She fights out of 'American Top Team' in Florida
NZH did a story on her before the fight was announced

Some very good fights over the weekend

Just watched the press conference. What an absolutely stacked card. Best of the year along with the most anticipated headliner of the year?
Picks
Asakura
MVP
Prates
Pico
DDPAlmost the same as mine. I'm cheering for DDP but picking Chimaev
Still waiting for the baby?
-
Congratulations
-
Hooper v Hernandez could be great
Asakura
Page
Neal
Murphy
Chimaev -
I was all-in on Chimaev after the Whittiker face crush but apparently that was an existing injury that he got lucky with. I think DDP style is just weird enough to throw Chimaev's game off. General consensus seems to be DDPs chances improve the longer the fight goes on

Yeah if it gets past round two I expect a DDP finish
The question is how DDP deals with Chimaev aggressively chasing takedowns early. DDP has faced a lot of striking specialists in the UFC so no one really knows
