Age and tough fights get them all eventually. Fury and Wilder being the most recent examples I can think of after their brutal trilogy. Has Usyk gotten a bit complacent ? as you yourself said only 13 days ago he looked in a class of his own prior to this. he has looked in a class of his own to date , 2 one sided fights against all of Fury , Dubois and Joshua I suspect there could be the ageing factor , he is 38 and had a long career when you factor in his long amateur career, and privately there might be a feeling of I’ve achieved it all now , a touch of complacency yes , similar to when fury fought ngannou . Boxing is going to shoot itself in the foot eventually with these silly matchups, particularly at heavyweight, when all it takes is one big shot , Kabayal as an undefeated mandatory deserved that fight ahead of someone from another sport all day everyday..

@MiketheSnow PPV numbers have been on the slide for a year. There has been a necessity to bring outside influences/old glories( CM Punk, Lesnar, GSP etc) to the octagon because the organic draw cards like Rousey and Jones have failed to keep the momentum going. Mighty mouse is a great champion but only true mma fans a. respect what he has done and b.even know who the hell he is. And there are bunch of people with belts that the passerby will not have a clue who they are. When McGregor and Rousey last fought they topped 1m PPV buys. When any other fight headlined - except UFC 200 which was stacked and had Brock Lesnar vs Mark Hunt on the undercard - every other PPV since 200 has struggled to sell more than 500k in PPV. UFC is huge, no doubt, but they are awfully dependent on McGregor right now.

@MajorRage said in Shitty Australian Boxing: @antipodean Blimey how old is that and what card is that? I'm not saying there isn't some shitty fights out there ... but you aren't going to see something like Quade Vs Fat Kid 2 fights before the main event at any UFC. You arent going to get it on the big international promoters cards either, Seems to be an obsession of local promoters Khoder Nasser and Duco

That was Pathetic from Dimitrenko who wanted a payday and tried to get a DQ. Having said that, Parker looked a lot better in this fight and is in a good position for a title fight whether it is Joshua, or if the rumours are true, through the WBO if Fury is stripped of his titles (which would be the far more sensible route to go).
