Bournemouth non believers will have their predictions shattered again. Truffert is the real deal. One more cb and we will launch again.
Loved the fight against Liverpool, pity about the late goal conceded for goal difference but most expected a rout. Up the cherries 🍒

At least we leave Liverpool with one of theirs, welcome to the seaside Ben Doak

Thought Truffert struggled against Salah - no shame there - but he looks like the modern left back with surging runs and a good left foot. I agree that Bournemouth should be fine given they have only lost a whole defence.

I agree on both points but thought he was better than kerkez who we sold, albeit one game. I’m more excited about the season now though.

Especially with Doak and likely Adli incoming. Just need a cb as senesi for me struggled the most

On the other side Wirtz looks like Ozil and should be an assist machine. Thought Ekitike was excellent as well.

Bournemouth really pinned Kerkez back and he got caught up in a physical duel with Semenyo that he couldn't win. And Kerkez never really got much chance to maraud forwards.

Salah has been amazing for Liverpool over the years. In 8 seasons he has never played fewer than 32 games despite regular AFCONs and has never scored fewer than 18 goals. That's an astonishing run of being fit and holding form.

Yet another guy who Chelsea gave up on.

City looked good although Wolves looked uninspiring, Rudolph impressed (I can't spell Reijnders). Great win for Sunderland, the ground was rocking - West Ham look to be heading for a miserable season. Spurs get past Burnley although not all that convincingly. Villa look poorish, Newcastle toothless - Brighton and Fulham will be fine but probably mid-table. Chelsea also toothless, Wood back and scoring, Brentford need to make signings. United looked better than Arsenal but it was mainly huffing and puffing. Mbeumo & Cunha were the best 2 players on the field.

Chelsea, again, have a new squad thst don’t look like they know each other. In another day United could have won with 3 or 4 goals. But not today.

Predict a good title fight this year.

    Agree on West Ham.

Usually too hard to tell this early into the season as to who's good and who's not, apart from your Liverpool's, Man City etc.

From a Villa point of view, with Ramsey and possibly Bailey out the door, maybe a late flurry in the trasfer window? We're looking a bit thin depth wise especially centre back and maybe another attacker. Asensio rumoured to return, hopefully one or 2 more.

    Bloody PSR rules.

Stat watch: Chris Wood on 91 premier league goals. Will be a fantastic achievement to get to 100.

A wonder he never got a decent run at one of the bigger clubs. Just not sexy enough clearly, but he certainly knows the way to goal

It's a bit anachronistic when comparing even to the start of the premier league, but if you look at the list of guys with 100 goals, almost all of them have played for at least one of Liverpool, Arsenal, either Manchester, Chelsea or Spurs. Shearer, Vardy, and Matt Le Tissier are the only exceptions (and both Shearer and Vardy won a premier league title).

Of course there are also a fair few names that only had short stints at a big club in that list too.

He's not really suited to how big teams want to play. He's a strong powerful centre forward who plays specifically between the sticks, like an old school forward, and a lot of teams up the ladder either don't play a specific striker, of if they do, they're expected to play all round the park and help contribute in building up play. Haaland is kind of an exception to this, and, well, his stats tell us why.

Arsenal (under Wenger) have played much better than Man U at OT in the past and lost. Soft by Bayındır as Raya was in exactly the same situation and punched the ball away.

All Whites midfielder Marko Stamenic won’t get a chance to play alongside Chris Wood. The 23-year-old has been sold by Nottingham Forest to Championship club Swansea for an undisclosed fee. Now only two Kiwis on their books.

Yeah didnt look to bad going forward but awful at the back. 8 goals conceded this early doesn’t help
