Jordan might not be a godsend at fullback. Who woulda thought?
Siege gun boot with pace to burn - is it not Zarn Sullivan’s time?
I’d like to see Love at 10.
15 would be a good start.
Ok. Then the next 10 off the line to get involved in the set up would be Josh Jacomb, no?
Could do worse than get Cruden back in to play 10 as a stop gap. Still knows how to run a backline and tactically is astute.
In an Ideal world, we would have seen ENS/Love get a shot at fullback, with Reihana/Love getting a shot at 10. Steady players who can pull something magic out of the bag every so often and play to a plan, who have shown consistency at the next level down.

@stodders Aaron Cruden should never have been allowed to leave our shores. We should have paid him enough to have been our first-choice 10 for last eight years.
Could he still do it? Barrett and DMac are stop gaps themselves

Would be nice to see DMac given an actual fucking chance. The kind of backing Scott Barrett got/gets.

I know that DMac plays the odd loose game of Super Rugby and a lot of the Fern hold that against him.
But he hasn't stunk the joint as often for the ABs as another veteran First Five.
And DMac was voted the best 10 in the world last year by the folks who choose World Rugby's Team of the Year.

Excellent review from Two Cents Rugby, who is more like a Thousand Dollars Rugby in his sharp, instant analysis.
Gee, our entire backline (including the subs) made 72 metres. And one line break total. That's absolute shite and even in the darkest days under Hart, Mains, late-era Shag or Foster I can't remember those statistics being that low.
We're like a poor England team: solid at set piece but offering fuck all else. If being solid at set piece was all that mattered England would have dominated world Rugby for the entirety of the last 35 years.
Actually I take that back, England almost always kick well. We're offering less than a poor England team.
-
The backline is going backwards at a rate of knots.
Time for a new coach and some new players.

Making 72 metres for an all black backline. And finlay christie was the best back when he came on.
Time for a new coach and some new players.

Keep Christie as the reserve 9. Put Will Jordan on the wing, Reiko back to Centre and Jordie Barrett to the bench.
Apart from that I'd drop the rest of the backline against the Boks.
- Kyle Preston (obviously Cam Roigard if he's fit)
- DMac
- Leroy Carter
- Tavatavanawai
- Reiko Ioane
- Will Jordan
- Ruben Love
6-2 split with Finley Christie and Jordie Barrett as the 2.
-
Fwiw I just rewatched the first 20 mins
ABs have 8-6 lead against the run of play. The biggest issue is kicking, in the first 15 mins ABs kick 9 times, with only two positive outcomes - Barrett's long kick from a quick pen and his kick into touch from another pen.
Every other kick - 2 box kicks by Ratima, Jordies chip off left and 4 kicks by Beauden basically gifts possession back to Argie because the kicks are easy to catch and they have time to build up a head of stream before tacklers arrive.
In contrast EVERY Argie kick puts the ABs under pressure and their chasers/contesters are all over the ABs like white on rice.
Inability to deal with those contestable kicks combined with aimless kicking the ball away was what invited massive pressure onto the ABs from the off.

Shots fired.
From the article:
“ Once renowned for being able to tread a supremely astute fine line in the grey areas of rugby’s complex lawbook, the All Blacks now simply seem to play with a reptilian brain, unable to resist their basic impulses. They seem incapable of controlling the urge to stray offside, impede kick-chasers and – most maddeningly of all – lunge for ill-advised intercept attempts.
Why this basic lack of control and discipline pervades the All Blacks is perhaps because this instinctive cynicism to shut down opportunities illegally and play on the cusp of the law is endemic in New Zealand rugby at all levels.
The All Blacks are merely displaying learned behaviour, serving as proof incarnate that the players are merely products of their wider environments, because from junior club, to First XV, through to Super Rugby, they are coached to push the boundaries and get away with what they can.”
Stupidity is coached…

I dont disagree, but Razor has now done AGAIN what he did last year and what Foster did before him.
Picked the old reliables early doors, didnt get results he wanted, now the big boys are coming and he is trapped in amber again and there is too much on the line in his eyes to experiment.
He isnt going to give debuts to Kyle, Leroy and start Timoci against the Boks.
Unless he is in fact the innovative brave coach that I thought we were hiring initially.

I kinda half agree with the following line:
The All Blacks are merely displaying learned behaviour, serving as proof incarnate that the players are merely products of their wider environments, because from junior club, to First XV, through to Super Rugby, they are coached to push the boundaries and get away with what they can.
But I also think that there is a general attitude that, "the rules suck, so let's play by a different set of rules".

The stupidity has been there long before Razor. Anyone thinking the senior ABs haven’t been morons for the past 8-9 years is living in a dream land. Razor inherited a bunch of idiots who haven’t improved for the past 4-5 years. He hasn’t then great but no matter how much polish a turd, it won’t turn to gold, it’s still going to be a turd
