@canefan on the other hand a win over the Boks has to be good for the confidence.

    Proctors kick......unforgivable.

Lads getting held up and turned over after the hooter.....amateur.

I have no confidence for next week. Like the Argje games we started well and regressed, letting them back into the game. If they were better they would have won, and will probably beat us in Wellington next weekend

    Today was perspiration not inspiration.

Better than a loss. But we aren't learning

Very happy with how Parker and B Barrett went.
Surprised how shit the scrum was, especially after subs. I've never seen Lomax going backwards at a rate of knots.

Turning over the ball juts before the hooter was rage-inducing

Pretty intense game, quality average but both teams had to fight with tough ground conditions.

Wow that was such an exciting game. That last 20 mins was edge of the seat stuff, and I let out a few yells that woke the dog. I was interested to see how Christie, Ioane, BB and Proctor went given the flak they tend to get on here...and they all played well. Most of Christie's passes were quick and straight and he both attacked and defended strongly. Pity about Narawa, I hope he's ok.

Back in the day, Lomax and William were not considered good scrummagers.
    Then they improved.
But tonight they seemed to have regressed.

We played as badly as we did in most of the recent losses.

We just happened to come out on the right side of the ledger today.

They were bad and a competent Allblack team would have wellied them.

We are going life and death with everyone.

Our wins are all by barely a score.

Willie Le Roux gifted the ABs that first try and they were good enough to hold on despite some moments of poor rugby from the Men in Black.

    Positives:

The intensity of the ruck work.
    The forward defensive effort.
    The crowd were ace.
    We won.

    Work ons:

We need a better option at 11, at 13 and arguably at 15 too.
Set piece once the replacements come on.
    The kicking.

Sweet to win one against the Boks after losing the last four against the Old Foe. Lots of work needed ahead of the Wellington game and the Bledisloe.

To be fair one scrum was horrible. Others were average. Not a lot of rugby for those two. They will get better.

The scrum was disappointing as I thought we might have a slight edge once the reserves came on.

Lomax looked really underdone, and Williams wasn't any better. I can only assume SB was used as the TH lock so he didn't have to swap when Holland came on. @pakman will have some thoughts.

How the fuck is that not a YC?

    Because it was bullshit?

At least the TMO invented a high tackle to save face.

    Comedy.

    Shoulder to the head

    YC and off field review

Mitigation as attacker was falling in the tackle

    Stays YC

Been ruled that way for years

    Not tonight

I understand your logic, but I really don’t like the typical interpretation. If an attacker runs head first into a static member of the opposition it’s not even really a tackle, let alone a dangerous one.

IMO the attacker ought to take some responsibility if he charges ahead recklessly.

So me a penalty feels appropriate in that specific instance.

Got no problem with your interpretation and logic.

But it's refereed so inconsistently - more often than not the other way - that it gets very frustrating when one minute it's an off-field review and the next minute it's a penalty only.

Christie is there because of injuries, hopefully 1 or 2 will be back soon enough -otherwise be nice to see what Preston can do starting.
We really need to move on from BB at 10 Give Dmac the reins and Love to the bench

We definitely need to start giving Love more game time. We could easily have an injury crisis at 10 like we have at 9. He needs experience and they need to start giving him some.

This is what Rassie is doing, for better or worse.

He has 3 or 4 players in every position with 30 caps each come World Cup time.
