    Think that’s about right. Capable of performing very well on a given day, but not consistent enough to be called the best.

    The thing that hasn't changed from the worst Foster period is that we are a bad performance every second game team. We have even worse losses now though.

    I can't recall, but I thought we had a habit of starting poorly and coming back in the final quarter under foster? That final quarter under Robertson is the elephant in the room. So much for headspace.

    Think we were chasing the game often. Both bad, now worse.

    Indicates that our depth is worse, which is what you would expect from a coach that won't select forwards from the Blues.

    Very disappointing to see that kind of prehistoric, parochial bigotry endorsed by NZR.

    I don't really buy our depth is that bad.

    Our tactics, selection and use of players is abysmal.

    @Bones Depth in the 23 isn't up to it. Our bench is often shithouse, and our starting loose forwards are dire.

    In NZ we definitely have the depth, if it is selected.

    Agreed. The players are there. If they weren’t, ABs wouldn’t be winning at all.

    This has similarities with Boks in 2017. The same players under a different coach won WC2019.

    Robertson needs to be accountable. It is his mess. He needs to be given the chance to fix it. Bledisloe coming up. No pressure. Then the home nations away in November. He needs to win them all now to salvage the year and the ABs need to consistently perform in doing so. Nothing less is acceptable now.

    Mark Robinson is leaving soon. If Robertson fails, then the ABs need to bring in a new brains trust like Henry/Hansen/Smith. Jamie Joseph and throw whatever at Joe Schmidt (his country needs him) as technical advisor (given he probably doesn’t want the role full time for family reasons). Not sure who the best attack coach is in NZ, but I do know Ronan O’Gara could be tempted south with the right offer.

    Nope. He's had long enough, and he is a dunce.

    Time for executive action. Move on.

    It is a shame the Blues performed so badly this year. Vern Cotter would have been the clear candidate with Jamie Joseph to come in. I know there were injuries, but it was still a large drop off from last year.

    @stodders I would love a Schmidt/Cotter team. Maybe a cleanout of NZR management will lure Schmidt back?

    That has to be the hope. Can NZRU pay Mark Robinson off before October when Schmidt leaves the Wallabies? 😬

    @stodders I dunno.

    Brown would be a great addition. Not Cotter as head coach, and not keen on Joseph for that role either.

    Now ... how about a foreign head coach?

    It might blow out some of the arrogance in the upper echelons of NZ rugby. I think that may be a step too far though. A foreign assistant coach may be the best first step. Get the Toulouse attack coach 😂

    Scott Robertson has been found out as a massive dud and should be relieved of his duties.

    Just pay the compensation and let him go.

    I'd approach Jamie Joseph and Vern Cotter to be the caretakers for the Bledisloe Cup, then Joe Schmidt as the new boss for the EOYT through to the World Cup campaign.

    Brown is going nowhere before 2027. After that, he will head back to NZ if wanted with a new management team at the helm. Robinson and team have done significant damage that will take time to repair.

    @stodders There's got to be a defence coach we can get.

    Fuck me I am sick of hearing about how we are playing good defensive patterns when we regularly ship 30+.

    @stodders

    Dave Rennie is probably the best coach that we could get. He did get some good results with a patchy Australian squad.
