@Tim Mils providing two clear examples that BB kicked when he shouldn’t have - first when we were down 7 points and we had acres of space out wide with players aligned for in attack and limited Bok defenders. Terrible play.
Second we are now down by 14 and a miracle chip when we had numbers out wide and space but didn’t use it. Big momentum turner when the Boks recovered the ball and kicked it down the line into their 22.
That’s not team tactics but blinkered play from our 1st 5.

@ACT-Crusader Cheers. Thanks for the effort post.
-
Word of advice from Europe. Get rid of BB. It beggars belief that NZ do not have a better fly half than him or that they continue to use him.
Years from now you’ll look back and say what were we thinking all those years if you don’t already.

Bit unlucky on that scrum.
Replay on Lomax side shows clear pen against Boks LH for collapsing onto knee.
-
@steelpotato said in All Blacks vs Springboks II:
Very very harsh full arm penalty at the scrum. Both props genuinely appeared to slip on the replay not 'pressure and pull' like the ref claimed
In fact Penalty against Boks LH for collapsing on to knee.

Shades of Anton Oliver days in the lineout.
Tbf that last lineout was more on Holland/just good play from SA.
Throw too low.

Carter is not a test wing can’t tackle crap under the high ball
People wanted to see if he could perform at test level. Can’t complain when the coaches give people what they want
Meanwhile, the one back three squad member who is great under high ball ISN’T picked.

How did we win last week? This is the worst half of all blacks rugby I've seen in my life.
Worst quarters for sure.
-
Last quarter rewatch to flow, but what is apparent is:
-
Taking off Parker and Sititi lessened our ruck effectiveness and in particular the defence around the ruck disappeared;
-
Taking off Proctor and Carter lessened our attacking effectiveness and backs defensive alignment fell apart;
-
Scooter looked gassed at end, so the No brainer was for FH to replace him, rather than Parker;
-
When we need to reset and gather composure, better to get ball out in oppo half rather than go for their 22: BB and Jordan I’m talking about you;
-
When we are under the pump quit the fancy Dan crap: Vaa’l lineout call at 60, BB kick passes (FFS!!!), RD chip; and
-
Hold the ball in two hands when diving for try line. No guesses for whom I’m talking about.
Half of those the coaches, the others SENIOR players.
KISS and we lose that by 10 max.
It was like watching the Harlem Globetrotters in
last 5. -

If talking about Love, he did get a chance to cameo and didn’t cover himself in glory either.
In fairness, that is probably being too harsh on him. When everyone else on the pitch had lost their heads, what is a young man with little international experience supposed to do?
Rassie did make a point post-match that even though his team looked like it was inexperienced on paper, only 2 (I think) of his 23 man squad had less than 10 caps. ABs had 8 players in the 23 with less than 10 caps. The capitulation on the ABs had everything to do with senior leaders not setting the example and stemming the bleeding. They started the rot that spread throughout the entire team. The subs just added to the chaos.

Something tells me this will be required viewing every Christmas in Bok supporters homes

@stodders I meant Clarke.
in fairness, he has been injured. For once, they may not be rushing someone back too quickly.
He should be in the mix for the Bledisloe games. If not, there are some real issues with selection going on.

He played two games for Auckland in the two weeks prior to this match. He's had a lot more recent rugby than Noah Hotham (or Simon Parker prior to his debut the other week).
