Schmidt doesn't like the guy.
Schmidt told you that?
It's in the public domain - he's openly accused Robertson of lacking integrity.
“A big part of it was about integrity. “The pressure that was being exerted was contributed to by not just New Zealand Rugby, but people aiming up at ‘Fozzie’.
“There was a podcast – with Jim Hamilton and Scott Robertson. That’s in the public domain. That was a pressure point and an advertisement that he [Robertson] wanted to win the World Cup with two different teams.
“And he [Robertson] applied pressure by starting an interview with ‘Bula’ when there was talk of the Fijian job being open. That was happening in the foreground, not the background. That was the tip of the iceberg, and it was bloody awkward for Foz.”
I was asking george if george heard this directly from Joe.
And your quote was in Foster's book, right? Which is hardly an impartial source, and walked back by Schmidt recently: -
@nostrildamus
That's not surprising given the games coming up - see every epl pre match where the coaches supposedly don't like each other. -
Posing a question here. The All Blacks clearly have an issue at 10, and part of that issue is not having the cattle. To cover that we need a threat from 9. Cam Roigard clearly has a great running game, but I find it odd that outside of Hotham, the other three used this year lack in this area.
He has his flaws, but Folau Fakatava shows far superior playmaking abilities to Ratima, Christie, Preston and Roe. I think to have him ranked below all those guys, given the ABs struggles at 10, is incredibly short-sighted.

I found his non-selection given the injuries we had bizarre.

Fakatava does have his fans on here (me included) but I wonder if there is something else we don't know about. Perhaps he doesn't obey team tactics like the others? I have no idea. But he doesn't play for the Blues so that isn't a reason.

@nostrildamus it's an odd one. Supposedly NZ Rugby really went out of their way to retain him just a few months ago, even make some serious noises that he was in the All Blacks picture...only for Razor to go...six or seven halfbacks deep and not select him. Can't get my head around it. Maybe there's something we don't know, but equally hard to not feel he's been hard done by.

Def would have given opposition more to think about than Christie
Both sides of the ball... Christie(for all his faults) is an absolute terrier on D.
I wouldn't pick him as he's a handbrake at the ruck, but his courage and effect defensively is really apparent

It's a direct quote from Schmidt - a primary source. Whose book it's from is irrelevant.

Hey Razor and your cronies - can you explain these stats
Razor and his cronies may not be able to explain them, but the Ferners did about a day or so ago

Razor is like a spurned lover, he tried to entice Fakatava to the Crusaders, Fakatava turned him down, and now he's in the no no box with Sotutu et al.
That might not all be true, but the bit about Fakatava turning down the Crusaders is.

That would be terribly petty.

Praying for a great ABs performance and result today! Go ABs.

Right now the best I can see the All Blacks doing at the 2027 Rugby World Cup is third place while the Springboks and France battle it out in the final or maybe losing in the final to the Boks again.
But don't forget the ABs entered many world cups as favourites and didn't meet expectations. The reverse could happen.

All it takes is a red card or food poisoning or a French rebellion!

All this talk of Razor needing international experience is bollocks, I think he's.just not upto it as an International coach, nor his team, although there is.an argument if he was upto it, hed bring them with him.
Don't get me.wrong, he is an outstanding coach for the grind of npc or super rugby, but that is where you have access to your group of players all the time.
International is different, we have the July tours for 4 weeks, then TRC for 6-8 weeks with breaks where players come and go, then eoyt.
I think he hasn't shown he can adapt to these shorter windows with his players.
Obviously we see his assistants as poor as well, and sans Ryan, who did look.the goods until the last month, the best he could.do is cut.them loose, but he won't and.2ndly who would step in anyway.
Sadly, the demise of a once great rugby nation started before 2019, accelerated under Foster before appearing to slow in 2023, but the fall has continued.
I honestly don't see them arresting this fall, watch super and npc and no one seems to want to address the issues evident in our game at all levels.
Of the 8 tests we have played this year, I have watched 2 in thier entirety, the losses to Argentina and the Boks, all the others I've come in at half time or not watched at all.
I want to care, and still care, but nothing like I used to where Mrs TR would know if we lost by my mood, now she barely knows a game is on.

You think things are really that bad?
The ABs are still carving playing great rugby at times. The set piece can be hit and miss and forwards are a little soft - look at the Aussie rolling mail try yesterday, way too easy - but NZ are still in a position with talent production and skill levels that most in the world are envious of.
I think it's not really a NZ demise so much as everyone else is catching up - and even then they are having to do it with Kiwi coaches and much, much larger populations.
-
@nonpartizan I actually do.
In general i am a positive person and dislike chicken little types, but am struggling to see the light here and how we rise up again without a massive shift in attitude at all levels. Yep, others have caught up and passed, but we seem stuck in 2018 and no clue how to move on.
Are we playing some good rugby? I'd say we have moments of brilliance but what team doesn't? By and large we are consistently poor and have been for too long for it to be a phase.
I hope I am wrong, I honestly do because I still love rugby, but it's NPC and club where that love is.
