I noticed Holland was the ABs top tackler. What about his defence do you have some issues with?
I think a few times he went wrong side of the ruck when defending close to the line or didn't see the space, pretty minor really but just comes with experience.

I've noticed that but I think the issue is more around the fact that there have rarely been loose forwards defending around the ruck for months. In the past it guys like Kaino, Ioane, and even Frizell would be patrolling that area when the ball got close to the line.
I think Finau gave away a couple of penalties in that area in the Super Rugby final but at least he was where he was supposed to be and trying. He was the only one putting it on the line out of the Chiefs loose forwards in that final. Vaa'i also is not around there enough.
The bottom line is that Holland has made more tackles than any other All Black this season and he's also top equal for dominant tackles so I think its more a problem with others not doing enough and being where they should be.

@brodean works both ways though doesn't it...a tackled player can turn in a way thay makes it more dangerous for.themselves and therefore the sanction on the tackler harsher, in this case, JOC self preservation saw him put his arm out saving himself from possible injury and at the same.time, saving JB from any sort of penalty.

An offence can't be mitigated by the victim successfully saving themselves injury.

How many RWC semi's has Scotland made compared to Argentina? They are simply not of the same pedigree when Argentina puts their top team out.

Just the one back when the Hastings bros, Calder, Jeffrey, Sole, Armstrong etc were running around. Magic days.
But the point that @stodders makes is extremely accurate when you consider that in 22 tests played between them they're 11 apiece.
I will concede they have lifted more than Scotland for crucial RWC games though.

I get sick of the "we could have lost" reactions.
We didn't.
Could we have been better? Yes
Are Aussie a good team? Yes
Do Aussie have greatest absolute bestest coach in the Wooorld! (other than Rassie)? Apparently
Did we lose? No
Great team with awesomest coach loses to rabble with surf numpty in charge.
Plenty predicting we would lose before the game, so for many we exceeded expectations.
Do I want us winning by 40 every time? Yes, but I'll take a 9 point margin, especially given we left points out there.
The only true metric is the scoreboard.

Yes. There is so much whinging on here that I shudder to think what would have happened if we lost. Australia are well-coached and have some good players. Their talent and depth in the loosies and their new wings are impressive compared to ours and their pack is competitive. It was never going to be a walkover.

oh and I forgot to say, they've improved their midfield as well (although I wonder if Sua'ali'i is better at midfield or as a fullback).

I think the big take away from the game should be copying how Australia make so many metres through the close channels and the forwards. Australia really was their own worst enemy with missed touch, penalties etc. When they actually held onto the ball, they really did make it look simple.
