So. Many. Punts. And holy crap Fields was awful.
Jets D was superb. Offence was horrific. -

I mean, sure if you want to run 3 straight plays for a 3-4 yards. And if that's a 4m drill or 1st and goal or something that's very valuable. If you're at your own 32 that's less useful.
I can't remember what the average starting field position is, but let's say it's about the 35. That's 65 yards, or 6 first downs. With 7+1+1+1 you need to convert the tush push 18 times. Even with a 96% success rate, you're less than 50% to convert 18 times in a row.
Don't get me wrong, short yardage situations are important and in a close match might be decisive. It might be the difference between winning and losing a very close superbowl (or a blown call, or how a fumble bounces, or a ridiculous one handed catch). But in the NFL close games are basically coin flips - when you have two evenlish matched teams a couple of plays are generally the difference. But over the scope of a season, the 'mean play' is far more important. The Eagles DL getting on top of the opposition OL. Saquon running all day. Hurts being an effective passer (and AJ Brown being a top 5 receiver). That's what gets them into a position where they're a couple of yards short. In games where they fail to do the basics first, it doesn't matter how many guaranteed one yard gains they get, they'll still lose.
Some times you just need to burn up the clock (to keep the ball out the hands of some fucker like P Mahomes).
I'd say the Eagles actually train for this.
With this play; and all other things being equal; like the Eagles offense reverting to the mean, they'll be just about unbeatable.And all the rest of the teams will simply have to follow. It's a copy-cat league.
And the game as a spectacle will be different.
And the NFL are very cognisant of how their game presents. Not like say Rugby union for example.
The only surprising thing about this play, is that the rest of the teams are not working on it already.The Bills use it most of all the other teams; and I note they were one of the teams that voted to ban it at the meeting a few months ago.

Vrabel is coming to town with the Pats this weekend.
Vrabel was the previous coach. And the Titans sacked him for fuck all reason.
He was popular with the fans; and is doing a great job at the Pats.
I think the Titans owner (female) didn’t like him.

And the Bengals get up and win! ridiculous! Chase is elite. his hands, speed, acceleration - just magnificent. And Flacco threw some sweet balls - for 10 days with the team he looks incredible.
Steelers will be gutted. Bengals D is awful but they turned over twice and that's all she wrote.

Not NFL, but there were a number of very good college games on the weekend. That Ole Miss v Georgia game and then the Tennessee and Arkansas games were great.

Welcome to the Justin Fields experience. I think since his debut he leads the league in 30+ point swings in QBR between games. The good Justin Fields is a borderline top 10 QB (he's shown up twice, maybe 3 times if you're being generous). The bad Justin Fields isn't worth putting on a practice squad.
It's not just stuff like inconsistent accuracy or anything either, it's crazy stuff like one week he'll hesitate too long on easy completions and take a sack, and the next week he'll calmly work through his progressions like a 10 year starter.
Jets go into a bye and then get the Browns. I suspect that this is just a blip (Nick Mangold dieing just before the match maybe a factor?) and they'll find a new frustrating way to lose, but this is a good chance to turn in around. If Glenn can have a solid run down the stretch it will be very promising for next season (although that will also put the Dan Campbell comparisons into overdrive which is just stupid)
